New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I apologize to IB for insinuating that they weren't routing correctly. As per jimrockford's posts, it is an INET problem. Now getting short on listed stocks in pre-market got tons harder mainly due to ARCA's stupid uptick rules.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Ok, this explains my issue perfectly. Thanks for the research. By the way, this new behavior really sucks.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

The orders happen in pre and post-market. At least before, INET and ARCA have had totally separate uptick rules in extended hours trading. I am not sure IB has mishandled the order. It could be that INET will not even show an order that crosses or matches ARCA in pre-market, but it just...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I am talking pre and post-market trading on listed stocks here. Previously, the uptick rules on ARCA and INET in pre and post-market trading have been something like this: Initially on both ECNs, you can't short at a price less than the previous close for listed stocks. So in my HAL...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

One more thing. This has only happened to me on listed stocks. I suspect the problem lies with the pre-market/post-market uptick rules in place. But before, INET was never affected by ARCA's uptick rules. They were distinct ECNs. Either INET changed to be linked with ARCA's uptick policy...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Well my situation involves the uptick situation on ARCA so it is slightly different. It also involves crossing the market (I want my offer on INET to equal the bid on ARCA). Maybe IB is not letting me cross the market anymore, even in pre-market trading which would be really annoying. If that...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad someone else has seen this happening. Since it started on Monday for me, my initial guess is that it was IB's fault because they tend to roll new order logic out over weekends. However, even direct routing (to INET) does not work for me. Direct routing to...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

In afterhours trading, I noticed that something changed on Monday, April 17th with respect to either INET orders or IB direct to INET orders. If anyone has any ideas, I would like to hear them. Here is an example scenario - the actual numbers may not be correct (can't quite remember the...

    Chinese Piracy

I have the answer to this. What is worse are the prices charged for music in the US. I like how the recording industry is trying to sell CDs in China for $2 in order to make piracy less attractive. If they deem that economically viable, that sort of tells you something about their markup in...

Strange question for traders at home

I roll out of bed in the morning and walk 10 feet to my office chair. I turn on my computers and am trading about a minute later.

    Tax on trading income

Here is one reason - a business that has a negative income on Schedule C will supposedly more likely be audited. Furthermore, ireporting negative income on Schedule C year after year may make the IRS question that your enterprise is a legitimate entity for the purpose of making a profit. The...

    IB Relative orders not working

Not that I know of - which is a problem.

    IB Relative orders not working

If you go into the Feature Selector, make sure you enable all order entry types. If you do that, hopefully you should see REL as an option. In other words, you might have REL orders disabled currently (or the TWS automatically turned them off at some point because you weren't using them).

    IB Relative orders not working

The limit price is the cap price for the order. So if you say limit price of 50.0 with offset 0.01 and there is already a bid there at 50.0, you will just match because your order won't bid higher than 50.0. Now if the best bid was 49.5 at the time, your order would go in as 49.51 and would...

    IB Relative orders not working

About 95% of my orders work correctly. 5% don't. I have given IB two examples of orders not working, but the problem hasn't been fixed. If all of your orders aren't working, then my first guess is that you aren't filling in all the fields properly.

    after-hour trades w/o news

I can think of a few reasons: 1. Want to be flat and forgot that you were in a position before the close. 2. There might be news that only a select few know at the time - a lot of news items happen right after the close (like upgrade/downgrades from select brokerage houses). 3. You can...

    OSTK ceo

The problem is that flytiger posts on this topic seemingly non-stop. How can you not at least label him as obsessive, bordering on lunatic? I wish I could carefully and patiently watch what unfolds in this story, but flytiger doesn't let that happen. He constantly barrages me with anything...

    OSTK ceo

Sorry, I am not involved with either BVF or OSTK at the moment. Sorry, comments like this make you seem like a lunatic. That was sort of funny. I do have an IB account, but I am not involved in BVF or OSTK. To be honest, I could not sleep at night holding a long position in either of...

Man you are full of yourself. You really think that a rehash of previous news on 60 minutes allows you to declare victory? Why don't you just shut up until you have something substantial.
