    Unethical Conduct by IB

Sometimes these out of the ordinary events take time to sort out - have a little patience. IB has always been fair with me so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. The fact is that the user in this case never got a confirmed cancel according to his audit trail. According to the user...

    Unethical Conduct by IB

One day (more than a year ago) I had an order disappear from my TWS for no apparent reason. I logged out and back in and still the order was nowhere to be seen. I knew I hadn't cancelled the order so just on a whim I logged into the IB Mobile Trader...

I would say the show makes me embarrassed to be human.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Yes I understand it. The problem is that in this instance there was very little volume in pre-market trading and I could track each individual order in the limit book. No other bids came in after the initial onslaught. So all these limit bids came in, no more came in, and it did not seem like...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I suppose this is possible although I find it unlikely. Is there a type of ARCA order that flashes? These all looked like straight limit orders to me.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Anything is possible, but I have my doubts in this case. A bunch of bids on AMR came in on ARCA very early in pre-market trading (before 7:06 am EDT). They ranged from 24.9 in price down to say 24.3. Those bids never disappeared once they were entered. They just kept on getting hit. Since...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I watched it with my own eyes. The ARCA bid was there first and it happened more than once.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

This deals with AMR. At 7:06:05 EDT, there was a bid on ARCA at 24.8. At 7:06:26 EDT, I entered a short order at 24.7 on INET to see if I could match the best bid on ARCA which was 24.7 at the time. I did this because at some point between 7:06:05 EDT and 7:06:26 EDT, an ARCA bid was the best...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I am positive the ARCA bid was at 24.7 and then the INET offer came in at 24.7. I.e., the ARCA bid already existed and INET matched. It actually happened more than once. Once at 24.7 and once at 24.6 while I was watching. I will get you the timestamp details in a little bit.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I noticed something this morning on AMR that has me really confused. There was a bid on ARCA at 24.7. Then an offer on INET came in at 24.7 and it was a visible quote. So the market at the time read 24.7 bid, 24.7 offered. This is in direct contradiction to what I have been able to produce...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Yes, you appear to be correct. In a perfect world for me, if I crossed the market using INET, it should not submit that quote to the national market, but yet make it visible on its internal book. However, I don't think it has that capability.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Hidden orders cannot be seen on Level 2 nor the INET public limit book. So if people bid at my price they would get filled magically, but since no one knows the order is there, I most likely will never be filled.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Well I guess it depends on your point of view. For example, I don't think there should be an uptick rule at all, no matter what time of day it is. Therefore, if you are talking about "the way it should be", I believe INET is right. If you are talking about the way it legally is, I don't...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Obviously you know the rules better than I. However, the fact that I can still short on a "downtick" (if you can call it that in extended hours trading) via INET irregardless of ARCA's last print still shows me that at least INET thinks the uptick rules do not apply in extended hours trading...

    OSTK ceo

Since OSTK doesn't make any money, isn't paying a dividend out of the question? Paying a dividend shows some measure of company health. How about OSTK runs a good company first, then everything else takes care of itself.

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I would agree with you if it were during normal hours of trading, but these SEC rules have never applied in extended hours trading before. Why start now? Are there new rules specifically targetting extended hours trading?

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Well, because ARCA and INET have separate uptick behaviors, I don't consider myself shorting on a downtick. It is my attempt to get around ARCA's irritating uptick policies in extended hours trading. But I am not shorting on a downtick in the eyes of INET. If you view it from the ARCA point...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

Here is the reason why it sucks for me. I do some of my trading in pre and post-market. It has always been the case that ARCA's uptick policy during extended hours has been irritating compared to INET's policy. In the example in the first post, the last print on ARCA on HAL was 83.65 and now...

New order behavior - is it due to IB or INET?

I consider myself to be a small trader and these new rules have already limited my ability to enter trades. I can't wait to see what other future limitations get slapped on me. Suckarama.
