They had one Thursday last week. The next one is in May.

    Bond rally nearing an end?

On that matter, Congress needs to raise the debt ceiling by tomorrow evening for the Treasury to go ahead with its two- and five-year auction announcements next week. If not, we would end up with a relative shortage of those in the market.

    Bond rally nearing an end?

The report was exactly what was to be expected anyways. As I mentioned yesterday, it's the first quarter that was suspected to be particularly strong and since we're already in the middle of March, they had to tone down their rethorics a little bit. The stock market is reacting with...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

The Beige Book seems to contain less hype about economic growth than the Fed comments since mid-January.

    China sanctions announcement rumour

They usually put on that kind of pressure when they want China to buy US planes or anything that will result in big contracts for American corporations. Everybody plays that game. Not just the US. Last time this happened was in late Nov. last year when China ordered 70 planes from Boeing...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

If the bounce continues until the end of the month, it is likely to do so in two phases where the first phase is a reaction to weak data and a realization that comments from the Fed on the economy's strength is about the first quarter in particular, with the rest of year expected to benefit from...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

It was luck, really. While my exit points are very satisfactory, I'm still working on correcting my tendency to get in too early and that was one of the reasons why I established a bullish spread instead of just purchasing calls. The two options I had in mind yesterday when establishing my...

I expect the bounce to last a couple of weeks.

    Bond rally nearing an end?

Lets hope so. Sorry I didn't post it earlier. I'm not particularly excited about this trade because I'm just betting on a short bounce with a modest position. I usually try to ride waves of 4 or more points in a period of about 4 to 8 weeks but those waves are getting scarce.

    Bond rally nearing an end?

Betting on a short term bounce. Established a bull spread yesterday with a combination of long 30 yr ATM calls and short 10 yr OTM calls.

Guess who scares the libs in `08?

From what I gathered, the dominant feeling in the Iraqi population about all that is that American soldiers are extremely frustrated to be over there and that they take it on prisoners and sometimes the population.

Steve46 and Samson77 ruined another thread

The way I've been dealing with the recent proliferation of new handles created to attack one particular member and support the other is by putting them on my Ignore list as soon as I recognize them. I strongly recommend the use of that feature.

    resumption of the bull market?

Excellent account of the market pulse! I would add that the market is also behaving logically since 1. Employment numbers were strong but there were no signs of inflationary pressures from wages and aggregate weekly hours. 2. Recent concerns about inflation didn't come from comments from the...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

You want to capitalize on strong growth and possibly a big employment number with a long position on short maturities? (When you say long position in 2-yr, I'm assuming you're expecting the price to go up and not the yield.) I didn't take any position yet but I'm considering doing the...
