What would life be like with a worthless dollar?

Australia's dollar fell to 49c against US a few years back - the lowest it had ever gone. People got really scared. But this is what happened. It became really expensive to go on overseas holidays, so people holidayed locally instead. Imported goods became more expensive so people started...

    New Computer - Thoughts?

If your running trading apps that are not designed for multiple threads on the CPU, go with a Core 2 Duo. Performance will actually be better. Consider the Wraptor 10K hard drive or SSD if you like a silent machine. For your sanity, pay for an oversize silent cooling fan. Zalman or...

    Trading Movies?

There is an obsure Australian movie called GO BIG, which is about a bunch of kids who make up false resumes working with big software firms then float a start-up called GO BIG. The company doesn't actually have any product or service to speak of. It takes the piss out of the whole...

Is facebook really worth 10 billion?

I'm the odd one here but I think facebook is justifiably worth a lot. If you look at the web companies that have got really big, they have tended to stay really big. Google and Yahoo being two examples. The problem with most start-ups is they never reach critical mass. Facebook has reached...

Wolfram Alpha to surpass Google in effectiveness - coming later this Spring

I played around with the beta earlier today and was pretty impressed. Sure it needs work, but it's pretty cool. We typed in 'Apples + oranges' and the thing returned a conparitive nutrional breakdown for both. That may not sound impressive but given the crap question i thought it was a...

Paul Rotter and the Order book

If you are are big enough to have a brokers license you can legally cross trade because you are trading multiple clients funds. If you happen to cross trade yourself, who is going to stop you. Certainly not the exchange. Imagine if your broker rang you and said "Sorry we can't close your...

    Announcing eSignal 10.4

I just tested version 10.4 and my EFS scripts that work in 8 do not work in this version either. Esignal this is unacceptable. Why would you release a version that is not compatible with older EFS code? I have spent thousands of dollars on EFS programming with recommended EFS programmers...

    Announcing eSignal 10.4

Jay, I still use version 8 as well becuase its stable. Version 10 had memory issues and version 10.3 had EFS compatibitity issues. I'm hoping 10.4 is better but until it's proven to be rock solid, I think you'll find many traders will stick with older versions. Runningbear

    Announcing eSignal 10.4

Jay, every time I open esignal, I have my template setup to download 4 days of tick data. My EFS scripts need this data to function. If this data was stored on my hard drive, it would put less demand on the esignal servers, not more. I reboot on the weekend and I lose all that tick data I...
