Didn't you hear on CNBC?? It ended two years ago...LOL!! Intraday price action is never about the market fundamentals, IMHO. It's always about which way the big players want things to go, and us little people trying to hitch a ride.:D

Thanks, doesn't look like the Fed has had any effect on the market so far. I agree with JoshDance that the thin volume shows there is currently order in the market. But we could be done with upside for the day, considering how far we've gone on...nothing. Notice how volume spiked at the 14.50...

Covered at 14.50, +3. Volume picked up nicely there. I love it when there is actually some follow through, chop drives me nuts.

Long ES @ 1211.50, target 1214.50, stop 1208.50. Can you believe how thin the volume is??

I'm gonna scratch that order. Double bottom on 1 minute and too close to FOMC announcement. Should have continued to my buy price but just chopping sideways. Five minute chart still looking bullish, but I've been burned too many times by the Fed.

Can't tell for sure where the top is on that chart. What is the price??

I'm looking to buy at 1209.50. That's a 50% retrace of the move from 1205-14, and right at the 75ma on the one minute chart. Stop will be 1207, target 1213.50.

Your order has been filled. Good call on the top, so far. What is the target?

Better to be lucky than good any day. I'm sure you've missed oportunities by one point or less before, market just gave some back.

Good gawd I'm glad I don't trade options.

    Finding the Holy Grail

Hope they're getting ~$56/hour like union auto workers. Or better yet they could make millions for playing BASKETBALL, then go on strike for more money. Only in America...

    Finding the Holy Grail

I saw on CNN after-market that peanut butter prices will be rising due to the hurricanes and other natural disasters we faced in the US this summer. They suggested using less PB and more J in the PBJ sandwiches. Why don't the Occupy Wall Street folks protest that?? After all PBJ's have got to...

Or as Will Rogers would've said (had he been a trader and not a singing cowboy), "I never met a trade I didn't like, until it went against me." :p

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

CME already considering expansion in Texas. That would be a HUGE ostrich feather in Gov. Perry's cap.

    Occupy Wall Street

Yeah but WS runs the ECN's right?? And who do you think lives in those houses in the Hamptons?? It ain't computers, 'cept maybe one or two. They need to figure out what they're pissed about, then focus on change there...

That looked like a reasonable trade when you put it on, guess the market thought otherwise. :( I hate to lose, but realize it's part of the game. As long as you planned your trade and traded your plan, there is no shame in the game. Right??

As an objective observer I don't think that comment was directed at you in particular, although I could be wrong. From what I've seen so far, JD has tried to inject some impartial perspective into our sometimes partial market biases. I am very guilty of this. I have enjoyed reading your...

    Occupy Wall Street

That guy looks like Chris Christie 200 pounds ago. Good points he makes, but he's a Dem so he'll just raise our taxes, right?? Damn those tax and spend Liberals!! :(

    Occupy Wall Street

I mean, really?? "That's the bank, that's the bank that took my parent's house. Arrest me, I'm not gonna let it happen!" The bank took the house because they borrowed $500k on a shack that was worth $200k, so they could put their deadbeat son through law school. Now they gotta post bail...

    The Patient Trader's journal

Good call on the short cover. There is no rational reason why the market rallies in the face of economic chaos. That's why I'm not a position trader. :p
