    stock will only go up if deal is perceived to close sooner, right now its discounting about 11% return if you hold it for a year or so. dont waste your energy on it if you already closed out the position.

    no it will continue to trade, shareholders must accept it first, they also have 25 days to accept a higher bid if it comes.. price should move to deal price as time goes by and deal is closed, thats your reason why its at 82 now, its estimated to take about a year...

    First Call on Thomson, Trak Data, Reuters, etc

    thats exactly how i had it in the past, through ILX ... i believe thomson bought them, but these days it much tougher getting the service. Thomson charges about $700/month for notes and close to 1K/month for full reports with tables/estimates, but without broker relationships at each bank...

    First Call on Thomson, Trak Data, Reuters, etc

    Anybody using First Call notes? I-banks became much more selective in alllowing small firms access to their research. Thomson and all others require contact details in order to grant access. Anybody with a way around this? anyone using first call?

    CAIA / CFA / Excel modeling / C++????

    I would strongly agree. Too much financial theory and intellectual probing clouds ones judgement and affects flexibility in quick decision making. Sometimes the less you know the better. its easy to ignore stop losses and switch in time frames when one starts thinking value but trades on shorter...

    CAIA / CFA / Excel modeling / C++????

    I enrolled in it for the exact reason that it looked interesting, and in fact it is, very interesting. Also it gives me excellent opportunities to network with FOF professionals which can do wonders down the road if I make a decision to trade OPM. It wont help you with fundamental investing...

    CAIA / CFA / Excel modeling / C++????

    CFA just way too long.. if you are going to sacrifice that much life why not go for part time MBA? CAIA takes a year and is much more interesting, so it takes a year to start networking with serious Fund of Funds managers looking to put $$ to work.

    Question about C.F.A.

    getting a CFA after few years of day trading will do zilch for you, it might open few doors for interviews but it all comes down to networking and interpersonal skills. bottom line CFA with no "real" work experience wont do much for u. And if someone is thinking of studying for 3 years just...

    Question about C.F.A.

    no its not comparable to CFA since its about Alternative investments not digging through financial statements.... i dont know what ?s you saw, but you are kidding yourself with that little study comment. level 2 CAIA is as hard as level 2 CFA.

    someone with news other than dow jones is pretty confident that HET is not going for more than 82. I took a shot with cheap 85 calls so hopefully he/she/they are wrong :-)

    Question about C.F.A.

    consider CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) instead, much more interesting material, can be earned in a year. www.caia.org

    CFA - Is it Worthwhile?

    CAIA is for alternative investments so when you talk to internal hedge fund groups at I-banks, Fund of Funds and overall Alternative Investments departments they will know about CAIA, average joe shmo in operations and HR is more likely to know about the CFA for sure since they have been around...
