The world needs to realize, just because you lost on a trade does not make something evil. There are many guys out there who believe CDS are the best thing in the world. Those are the guys who brought down AIG etc.

I see the ICE just got approval to clear them but they website shows no code for credit default swaps. I can buy puts on the financial institutions but I like to have real time quotes on CDS' so that you can see the whole market.

Does anyone know how I can learn to trade CDS's ? Where do they trade? What are the tickers? How do they trade? I use Interactive Brokers...

Don’t worry, I am a big boy and I can handle getting my ass kicked on a trade. The risk still remains that the market can go into backwardation at the blink of an eye. Answering the previous poster, if everyone were actually in the USO trade it would never have tanked this morning...

I am in the states but that doesnt mean I am saying it correctly. I am just a regular individual private trader The way it pops up in my system shows it as a buy @ $2.00.

I took the data from http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_fut_s1_d.htm And then worked up the charts in Excel from the data.

I am trading future contracts - CL on the NYMEX. Shorted April - Bought May which is currently the 1st. On the chart the 1st changes as the time changes. USO is a money loser always. USL is interesting for longing crude.

I hear you. When I am scalping I would rather do it directional to pick up the .10 - .30. With spreads ill let them run for a few days.

See attached chart. The problem is we can just as easily go into backwardation as we near May and then we are in the negatives again. I plan on being out of this trade Wednesday the latest.

Question is, will there be a crazy spike over the next few days while USO & the other guys roll. I am long @ $2.20. $6.00 will help pay the kids college tuition, $4.00 will be good for a new car. :-)

Tomorrow USO is going to start rolling from April into May. The last 3 times they made the spread go up to $6 - $8 How high will it go this time? Right now the spread is in the low $2 range. Gotta love contango.

Just tried quotetracker with my TWS and it is still freezing.

They just opened a ticket for me and asked for my log file, i emailed it because their website seems to be down :-) I would guess that a new version of TWS is coming out in the next couple of days, there are always problems pre release. They already have a new version of the web based trader...
