THe broker does not report the gains per se. The broker will provide a 1099, which reports all proceeds from sale of securities.

This whole "program trading" issue is hogwash. Fundamentally, it's still people trading. Afterall, someone had to come up with the algorithm, implement the algorithm, and manage the algorithm. All the computers do is speed things up dramatically.

What does a magenta background on the "Trader Dashboard" indicate. I've looked through the online users guide and the PDF and the dashboard isn't even mentioned. The help icon from the dashboard config window is not functioning. This is driving me bananas.

You may not have a full understanding of the business plan of some "free" anti-virus firms. AVG free is the same AV used by major companies around the world. Before making yourself look less than intelligent, you may want to really understand how these companies do business.

Open interest tells you nothing of liquidity.

Be aware that because IB's data is NOT tick by tick, Market Delta will not be 100% accurate. I realize this has nothing to do with your install problem, but frankly I wouldn't think about using MD without a tick by tick feed. I know, I helped develop some of the ideas that went into MD.

How hard would it be to include STOP orders as an option (instead of just MARKET or LIMIT) to a conditional order. This would make my life soooooo much easier. Is there any reason other than no one else thought to do it? Thanks IB for your reply.

It's not impossible that a big part of this move is strategic. This is a big "what if", but if GM becomes a shadow of it's former self, that/those manufactures at the ready to supply the gap left by a loss of another major manufacturer would be in a good position to take advantage. And...
