Why do folks reveal Profitable Strategies, are they NUTS?

yes i look at trading as having four elements (for the discretionary trader) 1) emotional. arguably the most important. you are your own worst enemy. your emotions (fear, hope, greed, euphoria, panic) will work against you. that's how the market is designed, as a dynamic feedback system...

    We have lost the action...

you can't force the market to conform to your trading style if low volatility market does not suit your trading style - find another market or learn how to trade this kind of market frankly, i find low volatility eminently tradeable

IB backfill - you get what you paid for?

also, IB does chunk data if it comes too fast. this is not necessarily bad because most other datafeeds will LAG because they are trying to compile each individual fill and the market moves too fast . in this respect, imo, IB is actually superior. like if u are trading FOMC (although today was...

IB backfill - you get what you paid for?

that is correct. down to the 30 second level (on backfill , which is what we are discussing here), IB data is about as clean as most other vendors. also, it is dependant on whether you are filtering or not your backfill which can account for why SEVERAL datafeeds had that spike downwards and...

and of course it also depends on goals. depending on goals, a trainer might be more inclined to use one methodology over another, but the basics are the basics. for example, there are no strength/explosive/sports that athletes cannot benefit from power cleans. there are few better ways to...

    Anyone else workout in here?

the point is that i made a grammatical error by saying he "lives" for it, which is a tense error since he is dead don't infer. as for poliquin. i have been a fan of poliquin for years, as well as Dr. Squat Fred Hatfield. it's pretty good stuff. weight training falls under (i believe...

    Anyone else workout in here?

well, not it's definitely different from mentzer "heavy dooooty" stuff olers almost NEVER work to failure. mentzer lives for it mentzer is about "high intensity" (he defines that as working to the point of perceived muscular failure) and infrequent workouts ol'ers trade VERY...

    Anyone else workout in here?

"My chest and arms got more definition than using free weights" - there is no exercise that gives your muscles more definition definition is created by 1) genetics 2) low bodyfat 3) low subcutaneous water but individual muscle fibers can only get bigger or smaller. period this...

    Anyone else workout in here?

yes. even though i have short arms (relative to my legs), i like to deadlift the only problem with deadlifting is that it is a very different movement pattern than the clean pull, and you have to be careful not to start "deadlifting your cleans" in deadlifting, among other distinctions...

You can't generate positive alpha without a PhD.

look, you can doubt my game theory chops all you want, but i spent a couple years playing poker and have over 20,000 hands of poker data saved in Poker Office over the time i played. i found that the skills that i used in poker (and poker is ALL about assessing risk - pushing your edge when...

You can't generate positive alpha without a PhD.

look, randomness implies UNPREDICTABILITY that is simply not the case in trading. i have just over 20 different setups. some only present opportunities once every 6 months or so (and i am an intraday scalper), others are usually at least a couple of times a day or so so, i have one...

You can't generate positive alpha without a PhD.

the corollary is - a PhD will not guarantee positive alpha based on my estimations, it may not even help as a trader-trainer, i'd prefer somebody like a competitive athlete, type A, down to earth, common sense type .
