Past 3 years; just a minor correction - Get Real Long

Dent has to say that...his book says the baby boomers won't stop investing until 2006-7. If he admits he was wrong he wouldn't sell anymore books, but at least he wouldn't look like an idiot on tv.

    Data Feed and Q Charts

I was having problems like you described when I had Last/Bid/Ask for emini's in seperate t&s windows. I closed the bid/ask windows and since haven't had any problems. The emini data can really f* up Qcharts I think.

    Hard drive overworked

If the HD is >2 years old it could be dying. Mine started making all sorts of noises, then the occasional blue screen before it died. There's some great deals on big HD's on techbargains.com. Example: 120GB 8MB Maxtor for $121 or an 80GB 8MB for $69.

NYSE liquidity quote/effects on price improvement?

Ditto. This is one of the last true inefficiencies in the stock market and they are going to take it away. I really can't argue with them because efficiency is good for the public, bad for us. The market is set up for investors & funds, not traders.

    Trading in San Fran

I've lived in East Bay nearly all my life. During college, living in Sacramento, Daly City, and San Francisco (Richmond & Financial Dist.) I have determined that the Tri-Valley area is the best place in Nor Cal by far. Mild winters, great summers, mountains etc.

    Spec of New Machine

I just bought a new Dell last week. I found a 4550 Dimension with 2.4ghz, 640mb ram, 30 gig hd for $630. My only problem was that it came loaded with XP Home. I have Win2000 pro disks so I will overwrite if needed. So, I called customer service to see if I could get 2000 pro pre-loaded on...

Are you guys prepared for this bear market +5 years?

Yeah, but I agree with you that many here won't be around in 2-3 years.

Are you guys prepared for this bear market +5 years?

Granted this market sucks, but there are enough opportunities to pay the bills. And this will always beat going to some office to deal with an asshole boss or idiot co-workers all day.

    Brights Ratings

As a side note, I do believe Bright is a good quality company. The software was really my only complaint, but I hear they may be making changes to that this year anyways.

    Trading in San Fran

If you live in East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley...) you will get much better weather. Even the difference between Sunset/Richmond Districts is often -10 degrees cooler than Embarcadero area so choose wisely.

    DDE Question

I called IQFeed yesterday. The rep said it is not possible to filter out regional exchanges in their DDE feed. Can you confirm this? Example: If ISLD is the best bid in AOL I don't want to see that price. I only want to see the best NYSE price.

    DDE Question

IB has a small symbol limit. I need 500 symbol ability. Any other suggestions? I'm testing eSignal but their feed does not appear to be accurate. Their bid/ask data is often different in the DDE than the program itself.
