Identifying when IB is your counterparty

What happens though if an IB client is sitting at 10.02 as well? Does the Timber order get taken out, or the client's?

ib must be selling order flow on options

So you are saying there is a "hidden order" sitting there. I would have thought they program the computer that if an order is placed at a particular price it would trigger them to fill it.

ib must be selling order flow on options

I didn't know this. If so, that certainly does make it difficult to buy at the bid. However, for single leg orders, it certainly seems to me that they are able to achieve both simultaneously, i.e. to send to the exchange & they monitor other exchanges.

ib must be selling order flow on options

My experience with IB smart route is that they don't lose control of the order, rather they will continue to monitor if they could fill the order even on a different exchange. The above of course would apply only to visible orders.

    Thinkorswim platform: speed issue

Update: 1. We increased RAM to 1 gig. 2. We applied to increase our bandwidth to 2.5. 3. The technician noticed their was "noise" on our internet connection. 4. Since that was fixed we haven't had 5 minute delays, rather a maximum of 5-8 seconds it seems for e.g. level 2 quotes. 5. Because...

ib must be selling order flow on options

My opinion about what happened: Regardless of the overall issue, I believe the order was filled with the second broker on ISE because your counterparty placed a multi-leg order, and his broker only scans one exchange (e.g. ISE) to fill such orders.

Identifying when IB is your counterparty

Thank you for this clarifying. Does IB algorithm first check for a fellow IB customer before sending the order for MM activity?

ib must be selling order flow on options

JimRockford, 1. Where have you obtained your information about "hidden orders", as I would like to learn more about that topic? I would have thought from my own reasonig that "hidden liquidity" would be something found by sophisticated traders, and not by the simple retail trader who doesn't...

Identifying when IB is your counterparty

See the following post. IBsoft claims at least when it comes to options that the customer is first. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80553&perpage=6&pagenumber=1

Identifying when IB is your counterparty

See the following quote from DAV: Although IDEAL is the executing exchange, IB is not the counterparty. Executions on IDEAL are either with another IB customer or with another liquidity provider. IB or Timber Hill is never the counterparty on IDEAL. There is no way to know the actual...

Here is the link about the "after hours" news. http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/in-connection-to-an-audit-for-the-period-2006-related,288376.shtml Note how the stock had a solid price increase at the start of the day, then suddenly it made a complete turn around, crashing thru the bids...

    DRL information leaks!!

It seems to me that each time DRL comes out with negative or mildly negative news after hours, "someone already knows" during the trading day itself! When you detect there is a leak, what do you do?

Sorry, you are right about Java; this is not an IB logo, rather a Java logo.

Identifying when IB is your counterparty

Thank you. I understood frome customer service there is a way to identify when IB/Timberhill is the counterparty, however, they said from the statements, and I don't know what they meant. Can you clarify?

Is IB asking for "Authentications"? Or is this a hacker?

This thing keeps popping up. Meanwhile, the "pin" in the upper right hand corner of the screen has helped.

Is IB asking for "Authentications"? Or is this a hacker?

We have a pop up with the IB logo saying "Authenciation Required" and asking for User Name, Password, and Domain (whatever that means). It says "Enter login details to access <default> on www.koreatimes.co.kr.?
