I don't think IB lets you stay long into actual expiration. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Question on candle patterns and brokers

With different brokers/chart software showing different candles, that means that some traders will be looking at an outside bar which others will see as a non-outside bar. In such cases will the outside bar that those traders see be all that significant as a price predictor if there was...

Question on candle patterns and brokers

Funny you should bring this up, because Friday I was actually looking at this issue for the first time. I had up a 5 min chart of ES in both IB charts and Quotetracker, using IB feed. Same feed, but the candles looked different. As I watched the number on each chart tick up and down I found that...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

Thanks for explainig your thoughts. fwiw I took a short at 94.50, based more on a range estimation more than anything else, and after taking 1.50 heat and watching the market seeming to lapse into the dreaded sideways shuffle, I bailed with just 1 tick, LOL. But since our entries were in the...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

Nod, good trading. I have 1 question. You often mention this "pullback from a lower high" entry. I'm curious which bar you entered on today. The first 'lower high' was established at the close of the 11:40 bar, so I assume you would've entered after that, in which case the price was actually...

    Does anyone use IB's Charts?

Good broker but they'd be kick-ass if they had charts that worked ... and kept working in each new version. I don't know why that's so difficult. (see post on p. 9)

Anyone know why YM spiked +50 on the 12:35 CDT bar without a comparable ES spike? ... fat finger maybe?? Thanks.

Huge volume on the RTH R10 bar. Any thoughts Volente? Edit: (YM R100 bar: same.)

I think Dow 10k may be important for the close today. On the macro front, we're starting to move into the timeframe where they need to make the end of year look nice and pretty.

Trade strategies assuming closing price after measuring it -- is there a trick?

You'd get it on all the eventual losers, but not necessarily the winners. I think the only reasonable thing to do is look at strategies that enter on the next OPEN after a closing price - based signal. But even then you'd have to factor in significant slippage, as fills at the opening price...

IB: TWS Updates ... yay or nay?

Do anyone else's settings get corrupted every time there is a forced update? This happens to me EVERY time, which is why I always stay with the "previous" version as long as possible. Apparently you can't save these settings (according to cust. support), so I then have to set up everything again...

Watch for 50% retracement in the S&P

Furthermore, this fib sets up nicely with the trendline drawn from the high.
