Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

What about that the prop shop that you work do not offer Futures trading? Because even though the fund will trade mostly equities, I would like to have access to round the clock financial futures trading. So lets say you make the arrangement with the prop shop and open the hedge fund account...

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

I have thought about this before, but you may need a prime broker for other transactions if the prop shop does not offer futures for example. Can you run an offshore fund (LTD) with US based LLC without a prime broker?

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

That is exactly what I am debating. Being a prop has many advantages. The goal or the fund here is start with 10 mil., perform well in the first year and raise more funds and grow it to $150 mil with funds of funds money in 3-4 years.

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

It is nice to see some sarcastic grammer teachers in this community. English is my second language and I do have scarce time to write literary masterpieces when I am trading. I do believe my message is succinct. You should be very clairvoyant as you assessed my academic and professional...

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

Lets' say some entity wants to give you 10 mil USD to be a 50-50 partner in a new hedge fund. You will run the show. Is it worthed to leave the independency of being a prop trader and establish and run a hedge fund from scratch.. Are there any hassles, headaches where it may not be a...

    IIF and IFN

IIF is closer to its NAV. When Indian market tanks tomorrow though the gap may widen. IFN premium is way up 25 %, but it is a good trading stock regardless of the premium.. Trading ETF's long or short wrt to NAVs' premiums/discounts may be very dangerous if you are not familiar with them.

I have checked out Green Trader before. Are you also prop trader w/K-1? It is funny to see, we are earning money but it is not considered income unless you establish an entity for yourself. Prop Trader w/K-1 Which IRA to choose?

Now I am confused. One of my Financial Advisor buddies insisted that I should have a SEP IRA so that I can deduct it from my taxes and invest for retirement and here from the forums I read that for prop traders w/K-1's only Roth IRA is possible. So has any of you w/K-1's have SEP IRAs, Roth or...

Why is one not allowed to have an IRA if he is a prop trader and why is SEP 401K is better than SEP IRA? Thank you..

    SEP IRAs

What do you guys do for retirement? I am kind of little late to the game, but since it is the tax time, as one of my Financial Advisor buddies recommended I will start putting some money to a SEP IRA and save some money on my taxes too. Is SEP IRA the best option for the prop trader? THX

    Anybody living in Ridgewood, NJ

I will be moving there early June. I may also have an extra trading set up at home. As most of the houses are very old, because of type of solid material that they used, cell phones do not work inside the houses(funny but true). I was wondering anyone had a problem in their trading set up...

    Nasdaq to 5000+

Why don't you ask him what happened to his Roaring 2000 fund? They were pitching the now bankrupt companies(CMGI, ATHM etc..) or stocks that lost 90% of their value at their top stock price like the stars of the future. I can not believe that guy still exists. Believe him at your own risk...
