Well, options don't trade premarket, but rest assured that when the market opens the market makers will open the option prices so that there's no easy money.

What does your logic tell you? If it was that easy, don't you think everyone would be doing this!?

What is month end duration extension?

I'm no expert, but I'd say it has to do with end of month bond portfolio rebalancing to keep duration constant. It's more of an educated guess, though.

IB TWS Option Modeler - always quite low

Can't help you there, I don't use IB so have no idea where the volatility comes from, but I'm sure someone here will be able to clear that up for you, or maybe contact IB directly or PM "def" who is IB's representative here.

IB TWS Option Modeler - always quite low

The model is only as good as the inputs that you use, so in this case the only important variable that is unknown is Volatility. The theo values depend on volatility so tweak the volatility, or at least find out what volatility is used in the model.

job choice help! Goldman Sachs or Trading Firm???

I still can't understand how you could get an offer from Goldman when you have absolutely no clue about anything. Lacking common sense is just one of your problems. F*ck the trading firm, get into GS then get into trading at GS if you like trading so much. By the way, maybe someone should...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

In fact, it looks like an OX spin off or something, the whole site reminds me of OX, including the links at the bottom of the page.

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

OK, they are cheaper, but it's another browser-based platform, which is not very suitable for active traders as you have to constantly switch back and forth between browser windows and click "refresh". By the way, the options calculator is taken off of the CBOE website, and the strategy...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Quote from the webiste: "For option trades, we charge $4.95 per trade, plus 65 cents per contract. That’s it." They are not that cheap after all. The platfrom looks exactly like OX, only with different colors.

job choice help! Goldman Sachs or Trading Firm???

I agree, having a degree from a top school and not being able to separate a GS offer from some trading firm is showing serious lack of common sense, but maybe they don't teach that in top schools.

job choice help! Goldman Sachs or Trading Firm???

I'd go for GS. It will open a whole lot more doors for you. You can always go to trading later, but you can't replace the contacts that you will get at GS.

bull call spread should be in profit but isn't. please explain

Frankr, The earnings calls are usually after the the actual results release so the companies release the results and then they have a call. So you don't have to be particularly fast to find out the news before the call. Pay attention to the release time not the call time. For example, the...

bull call spread should be in profit but isn't. please explain

OK, point taken, I've never been to any of their seminars, yet it is clear that they do not fully explain the consequences of their choices of strategies/expiries as the case at hand demonstrates. Here I mean that they say that one should buy spreads with more time to expiry so that you have...

bull call spread should be in profit but isn't. please explain

frankr, That's the problem with Optionetics, they don't explain all the aspects, they just throw out a few ideas and then let you learn the other apsects the hard way, like you did about vertical spreads, time decay and expiration. As you have stated yourself, you should go back and study...

Can a broker restrict you from closing positions?

TrendReaction, Although I do not have your credentials, it doesn't make any sense why would a broke prevent you from closing out the position. Now, the part where you lose me is where you say that by selling naked puts you're borrowing some else's calls and selling them!? Why...

bull call spread should be in profit but isn't. please explain

Even if the stock is at 450 now you won't reach the max profit because there's too much time value left in the options. Basically, as it has been mentioned before, you'll have to wait till expiry to get the max profit or if you're lucky enough and the stock goes really deep ITM. Why would you...

Can a broker restrict you from closing positions?

Maybe you should try a different broker, the one that specializes in options....where stuff like this wouldn't happen.

    I don't think he/she meant X as a ticker.
