Robbie, What do you think of the market right now, and what's a good trade? I'd like some insight.

Do you know how many gauss it would take to break a covalent bond? The standard ALINCO magnet certainly wouldn't do it, nor would any electro-magnets, short of the magnets in a cyclotron. You're just a believer of pseudoscience, or a mark.....as some on the streets would put it.

guilt of all market participants from 401k investor to daytrader

Actually, the water burning car engine scam has been around since the 20's. All of those free energy theories don't withstand the rigors of the scientific method. Please cite some credible sources that detail the physics of the whole thing. I've got an idea, I'll get a really efficient motor...

Succesfull Traders Are Different - As Example...

It really isn't hard to tell when the market is going from bid to offer in the pit. That's a helluva edge, and a person with an IQ of 80 could figure that one out. Still, most of those guys figured it out for themselves, as why would someone help someone out to cut into their own piece of the pie.

Succesfull Traders Are Different - As Example...

Some of the dumbest people I've ever known were scalpers in the wheat pit, yet they made a decent living. They weren't lucky, but were able to make a good measure of the market at that time. Still, they were dumb as rocks.

Guess The Gold Bottom... I'm saying 850

One can only speculate what the actual gold trade(large bullion dealers) thinks about future price action, and that would be a good place to look for wisdom. Even though I trade grains for a living, I've found that the grain trade is remarkably accurate in it's forecasts. I would assume the...

Losing motivation - the daily grind

After my pretty long run, I know I would be unemployable, and my clerks would be in deep shit if I ever went belly up. Oh well, someone's gotta be the hamster running the wheel to keep it going. Jeff :)

Losing motivation - the daily grind

30 years of full time trading has taught me a few things: Take time off when needed. Keep a social life. Find a hobby. Don't take everything really seriously. Exercise your body. Jeff

    Options on Futures

Options on futures are best used for hedging a futures position where you have a nice profit and want to keep it. There are situations where, if done right, you can have a "free" long or short position. Jeff

Best Job to Have While Saving Capital, Learning

I'm a grain trader, and Cargill will teach uou how to trade, and pay you reasonably well to learn. I've known a dozen people who came from them and all make a decent buck trading grains. The grains ain't sexy, but people gotta eat, and grains won't go the way of some of the commercial paper...

Best Job to Have While Saving Capital, Learning

Go up to Minneapolis and get a job at Cargill. They'll teach you everything you need to know to trade successfully. After about 10 years, you'll be ready to go out on your own with a reasonable expectation of trading profitably. Since you're just starting out, you might find yourself going...

How much to pay for a mentor?

I first learned a bunch of nuggets of wisdom starting as a runner. Later on, I learned how to trade from old guys who had been around since the 1930's. Although the grain business is pretty tough, the older grain crowd is usually willing to teach worthy young guys how to trade. I've passed...

If you keep losing money, how do you do the opposite?

In the pit, I've always tried to identify a newbie loser, and fade his bids and offers. The real trick is to identify a loser, which takes some talent in itself. One can get a good net return finding the right loser or combinations of losers. J
