How to track the "smart money"?

What's your trading style like now? I currently do S&P Futures only.

Has it improved your trading? I'm over half way through.

News release strategy/ (watching charts with eyeballs is not necessarily a hedge...)

Just because something is hedged doesn't mean it has to equal zero. It can be so that it just limits your losses (and gains, unfortunately). If options prices increase due to volatility, then wouldn't that cancel out because you're selling one and buying one if you're holding a spread?

I don't blindly take "advice" from people I've never heard of that respond to my posts talking all kinds of sh1t. That's right. If you have something useful to say, then say it. Otherwise STFU.

Ok that's great you admit you're a failure. What's your point? That I shouldn't listen to you?

Losing $14,000 before I have time to react isn't something I'm willing to do. Now unfortunately staying on the sidelines during data releases will prevent me making any gains on them.

Stop pretending you're successful. I've been trying to ignore you since you started replying to my threads.

News release strategy/ (watching charts with eyeballs is not necessarily a hedge...)

I've turned $35,000 into $47,000 since the Jackson Hole speech. So whatever I've been doing lately has been working (knock on wood cause this morning was almost a disaster). I have decided to only trade S&P Futures. No more currency pairs. I may consider commodities in the future after...

Why stay out of news releases? That's where quick money can be made. That's how I doubled my $13,000 in 4 days back at the Jackson Hole speech. I thought it was a general "trading strategies" question.

News release strategy/ (watching charts with eyeballs is not necessarily a hedge...)

I closed it out since I made the first thread, at $10,125 profit. I read a news story that said "don't get carried away with the bear market because of the CPI numbers" and I realize it's just somebody's opinion and I could easily find another news article saying the opposite. But it's been...

OK, who is going to lie and say they saw today's HUGE drop in the charts?

It's a good thing these two camps are so predictable... 1. Stock investors = look for any excuse to pretend the markets are doing amazing, even to the point of extreme wishful thinking. 2. Federal Reserve = like a broken record "our goal is to get inflation to 2%"

So yesterday, I was loaded up with three long S&P futures. ESU22 to be exact. I had already made ~$2000 that day prior to the CPI release. When 8:30am comes around, I figure since I'm watching the chart, I can just sell real quick if things go how I don't want. Well by 8:30:01 seconds, it...

    COT Report charts

Is there a platform or app that allows you to see charts of the COT reports released by CFTC? I'm reading a book that gives formulas for analysis and I'd like to be able to plug it in real easy to see rather than make some complex Excel spreadsheet.

How to track the "smart money"?

Is this what happened to my thread? I've been too busy reading the book suggested by @zghorner I'm half way through. I hope I can make it work for me someday.

Then go with low spreads like index futures or eur/USD. But 10 stars for the actual productive comment. Different from the 99% of responses that are petty insults and name calling.

How to track the "smart money"?

You could write any random algorithm for quant trading. Even if it has the worst results imaginable.... Then just do the opposite.

How to track the "smart money"?

Downloaded! PS: For all those on here who say I just come here to argue and never listen, look at the immediate action I take when confronted with useful information!

How to track the "smart money"?

After re-reading my article, maybe the answers are in CFTC data.

How to track the "smart money"?

That's true. Is that what you do? Wait for data releases and jump at opportunities as they come?
