Nope. They didn't answer me either :(

    Trading Hammers (revisited)

That website is my website. As I've been doing for ten years, I'm trying to learn and explain. For me, financial stuff is interesting ... and (it seems) to others as well: http://www.gummy-stuff.org/gummy-visitors.htm

    Trading Hammers (revisited)

NihabaAshi: Is it possible to describe a "hammer" which you would act on ... in twenty words or less? I know! I know! I should read the last jillion posts, but I'm too old fer that ... and I need an example for this. If it ain't worth your bother, that's okay. I'll just start on those...

The best book in Technical Analysis

There are so many neat websites that provide info on technical analysis that I wonder why one would buy a book. The nice thing about websites is that they're often interactive, not passive ... and you can experiment with different techniques. I even got me one myself...

How to calculate Implied Volatility by hand?

You can check out this stuff on Implied Volatility.

The field equations of general relativity are a set of nonlinear partial differential equations for the metric. Although I was originally impressed by your (apparent) knowledge of the various topics in this thread ... now I'm convinced otherwise  Bye!

A poor linearization? Perhaps you could explain why ol' Albert decribed his General Theory of Relativity in terms of curved space-time ... or will it cost me to get that explanation? :D

. Wow! I'm impressed! I'm still trying to get thru' Richard Feynman: "Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts."

No, you didn't, but I'd still be happy to prove* that it doesn't ... for a price  *There's this thing I have about mathematical "proofs" of events that occur in the real world ... in particular, "proofs" of things financial. One of my favourite quotes: "As far as the laws of...

I've noted (with amusement) science_trader's cryptic statements: "It's just a question of Hurst exponent."** "something totally inaccessible to people not trained in probs" and even the obvious "if the market is an infinite-variance process, 'volatility' is infinity" ** Actually...

I've found that very little in financial analysis is precise (including that square-root-of-time stuff), but I suggest that one use whatever definition happens to be in vogue ... so everybuddy is speaking the same language :) However, I'd be interested in how you would calculate annual...

    Volatility

I'm never "sure" of anything :D In the spreadsheet, I download daily prices, calculate daily returns, then scale 'em up by SQRT(250) to get annualized. If I had used monthly returns, I'd scale up by SQRT(12). How would you do it?

The relationship between Implied and Historical Volatility is intriguing ... and got me thinking ... which is good fer me :)

Could be is right :) William Sharpe prefers standard deviation defined like so: his reasoning being that he's calculating the "standard deviation of a population, taking the observations as a sample". He also notes that, for "the standard deviation of the historic data", the...

    Volatility

Yeah, that's an interesting one! In my spreadsheets, if the user downloads stock prices over the past N days, I provide the standard deviation of returns for that number of returns. I know of no use for standard deviation (such as Black-Scholes, estimating future prices, buy/sell signals...

    Savings rate falls to 0%

I don't hardly trust calculations of "savings rates". My disposable income is $X and my expenditures are $X. Did I "save" anything? I spent $30K on a house ten years ago and it's now worth $1jillion. Did I "save" anything? I invested $30K ten years ago and it's now worth $1jillion...
