One indicator that I use to increase my odds on whether or not to trade with or fade a breakout (especially first hour of regular session) is to take a look at Advance/Decline.
I trade NQ, so the nasdaq advancers and decliners are what I'm paying attention to. If advancers are outnumbering...
I don't know about you, but I don't have a clue as to who I'm making money from. Could be anyone on the otherside of my trades. Might just be someone else on both ends of my trade that's making a profit trading a different timeframe.:D

I don't know much, but have you tried the stand alone java version of tws? I use the stand alone and have a firewall and it works fine, but my blackice firewall is probably nothing compared to what you are dealing with. If you haven't tried the stand alone version it might be worth a try.
