Successful Traders, How Long Did it Take You?

I don't buy into the specific time frame thing. I mean, what is "making it" in this business? For some, netting $40,000 might be fine. But for others, getting back to that six figure salary that they left behind is a must. Also, starting capital is an issue. For some, it's easier to...

    Van Tharp Workshops

Thanks for the info, Daniel. I'm thinking of taking the Peak Performance 101 workshop for and/or the 17 Steps to Becoming a Great Trader. I've got some great insights and strategies for the market -- I just need to get better on the implimentation and execution -- I'm hoping that these...

Shindler Trading Has Bang Up Feb !

What I like about Schindler is that the guy keeps plugging away even when he has really bad months. That tells me he believes in his system and that over time, he believes the profits will be there. I would expect that he will continue to improve as he is clearly a survivor in this business.

vitamins mineral and foods good for trading

I took a bunch of Omega supplements for a while and they gave me the worst smelling gas and craps. In any event, my favorite beverage for trading is Reed's Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic).

    the basic flaws in TA

I'm in Buy1Sell2's camp. As more of a swing / position trader, I rarely consider patterns and only use indicators. Still, the way I use an indicator is typically much different than what's taught in the textbooks. In my opinion, the bottom line is that TA is subjective. The skill lies in...

    new fund

8 figures? More power to you! In any event, if you're simply handling 1 client why do you need to set up anything other than the right type of brokerage account for this person? Just make sure that this person signs whatever documents are required by the brokerage firm for you to have...

Good point. There were some other indicators as well suggesting some underlying strength in the market over the past week despite the sell-off the Friday before.

    Starting a Hedge Fund

Sorry for the last post which was blank. I'm an attorney who practiced business/corporate/securities law and even I decided against doing the documents myself because having reputable legal counsel adds to your credibility. You may find cheaper rates by using some non-coastal firms who still...

    Starting a Hedge Fund

At the level you're talking about, you don't really need a prime broker. As long as you have a reputable and reliable custodian/brokerage and an experienced (1) legal counsel, (2) auditor and (3) fund administrator, you should be fine. For example, I've been in discussions with Rydex...
