... but is it doable in reality ?

Yes, it is very ambitious and only the very few will be able to achieve this return on average. Elite = selection of the few, see page 16 of this thread where I posted the resignation letter of all-time great Bruce Kovner (21% per year return over 28 years). "Shooting for it" of course does mean...

The british daily Financial Times called this book written by Michael Batnick excellent, he analyzes the missteps of all-time greats in investing and what general lessons they may hold for future investors. It was published in 2018 and is called "Big Mistakes : The best investors and their...

If you readers of this thread haven't discovered this website, www.hedgefollow.com yet, it gives insights into the 13-F fililngs of fund managers, some of whom are "market wizard" territory returnwise. Please note, 3 months are quite a long time period and when the information is available to...

Portraying another current star fund manager - of course, past performance cannot guarantee future results, it'd be a huge disappointment if ARK's ETFs would experience steeps declines in their NAVs (which may happen) - this is Cathie Wood. She's structured Theme-based exchange traded funds...

... but is it doable in reality ?

Legendary money manager Stanley Druckenmiller - not a single down year in 40 years as a money manager - suggests "Reminiscences of a stock operator" by Jesse Livermore as a must read. Simply apply what the oldtimer's wisdom about the underlying trend is and you have "50% of the game licked"...

... but is it doable in reality ?

Another blast from the past, Alpha magazine interviews all-time great captial allocators / star fund managers regularly, among them of course PTJ II. . This is from early 2008, I'm aware of the fact that the stars have hit ratios of often less than 50%, but when they get it right, it's enough...

New price target / price objective on the long setup in the FX pair GBP / USD (page 16 in this thread, #154) is 1.4500 .

... but is it doable in reality ?

The Bitcoin short setup was obviously a complete failure, SL would have been triggered. As the cryptos are impossible to value as opposed to companies, and the smart money crowd is on different ends of the opinion spectrum, I would not touch it either long or short. However, Paul Tudor Jones II...

... but is it doable in reality ?

On page 12 in this thread, I presented my bearcase for Imperial Brands (ISIN : GB0004544929), it now trades at around 1,427 pence. I still believe it'll drop below 1,000 pence this year, maybe even as low as 900 pence !

With the recent volatility in the silver price, it looks to me as if it may break out again on the upside and make a new high. Silver now trades at around 26.93 US$ , I think 50 US$ may be in the cards within the next two years. For this metal, I'm in the bull's camp.

... but is it doable in reality ?

If I'd be able to trade I'd stick to one fix approach that defines a trend. D1 charts can be a part of this, but of course are no must. What without a doubt would not work is trying to use different time frames - here an upward trend, there a downward trend - and then try to trade diverse...

For those of you who are into price action as the basis for their sell or buy decisions in whatever underlying, the books written by Al Brooks are said to be "the shit" -> https://www.amazon.com/s?k=al+brooks+price+action&crid=26UNJ67G9YE6H&sprefix=al+brooks%2Caps%2C249&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-a-p_3_9

... but is it doable in reality ?

On page 16 of this thread, on 10/21/2020, I posted a long setup in the FX pair GBPUSD, when it trade below 1.3100 . I think it has room to move above 1.40 this year ... however, please be aware of the swap that, if negative, bites into potential profits if positions are held for more than one...

... but is it doable in reality ?

This is a more recent interview with Tom Basso, he is a chemical engineer by training who was employed by Monsanto and thought that price itself (beginning with shares of Monsanto !) could be, if correctly interpreted, a hint on / for future securities movements, see interview with him on page 1...

The support line in the Bitcoin (BTCUSD) is, in my humble opinion, extremely important. If it won't hold with the next downswing, it may the last breath and then downward to zero. Complete whipeout for all long positions I foresee in cryptocurrencies.

I will use this thread to portray successful fund managers who've been able to deliver alpha aka who are professional capital allocators who get it right, rare enough they are. Today : Terry Smith, founder of Fundsmith. Quote from this article, "Since its launch on 1 November 2010 until 19...

Thank you for your input. The thing I now consider "top territory" is the Bitcoin. Reason is the devastating judgement that Warren Buffett has made and what I remember from this interview with investment all star Paul Tudor Jones II ("When you look at the volatility we've had in the past month...

A totally viable scenario, am curious how the world will look like in 2030. Great call you made with the USDCAD shortidea, I was wrong when I thought it'd switch into long mode. Hope you'll post some setups here, too, you're welcome to do so, padutrader. Gold I'm now a bear, think it'll drop...

Hope all readers of this thread will have a great & wonderful 2021. USD vs CAD long was a loser, the GBP USD long setup would have worked out well, now trades @ 1.3650 . For equities, I see a "lost decade" ahead, but of course will only post concrete setups when they occur.
