Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

Excellemt thread guys.. just finished wading through it all. I am found that often taking the "2nd move" or retracement post breakout/breakdowndown works well also. (as it approaches mocing averages John Netto focuses on this as the crux of his trading strategy, and it seems to also...

don miller, what do you think of him ??

I found his methods to be crap. I got his trading the E-mini (for free thank god) method and it is basically a MA crossver with a conventional indicator to indicate overbought/oversold levels... It can work in trending markets (as most MA X-overs will) , but he doesnt explain any of this...

    My thoughts and journal

Brandon, great thread. I especially like your previous explanantion of price and volume.. So many people talk about it, but dont elaborate.. I might have missed it in an earlier post, but how long are you holding these trades for, for the most part? thanks, Matt

    Reminiscences of a Stock Operator...

Good point. I think the main gist is that you can never get ahead of yourself. Stay humble b/c the market will humble you if you give it the chance. Also, dont inflict your will upon it, listen to what it is telling you, even if you are on a hot streak.. my .02

    Reminiscences of a Stock Operator...

NO, I gave up the holy grail search awhile back, thank you. I realize that they dont exist. And those that DO exist, only exist in very specific market conditions... Listen, Again, I liked the book. But it seems like everyone jumps on the bandwagon, and salivates over it....

    Reminiscences of a Stock Operator...

IT is an entertaining and good book, but very overated IMO. I have heard so many times that this is the "BEST BOOK." It simply isnt. It has some psychology lessons built in, and some "morals of the story" fluff, and is decent, but I am tired of hearing that it is the best book ever written...

    INTRA-DAY stock scanners?

www.trade-ideas.com looks okay, but I should have mentioned that I have a specific custom filter I created, and need to program it in... I have trouble finding one that gives you real time data, and is customizable that isn't $200+...

    INTRA-DAY stock scanners?

I know a few threads have been started in general re: filters and scanners, but I cant seem to find an affordable one intra-day... All of them are based upon closing data.... I know tradestation is the obvious answer, but I am looking to test an idea I have as cheapily as possible.. Odds...

    Price and Volume: Strategy

I have been doing something similar with 5 and 30 minute bars focusing strictly on the SPY's.. I also use the diaily for overall S&R, trend, etc. I am not using indicators anymore, and and trading reversals.. I try to see overall support and resisiatnce and patterns with the 30 minute and use...

    Price and Volume: Strategy

so you are basically not trading the Break out/down of the coil, but trading "inside" the upport and resistance, playing off the pattern formation (as it is in the process of forming and narrowing?)

Getting into daytrading and starting with Echotrade questions??

If the mentor is willing to train you AND HE IS CURRENTLY PROFITABLE, by all means do it. I used to trade with Nick's office in NYC, and he is a stand up guy, and helpful. He will do everything in his power to help you, but it only goes so far. What is important is you making $$$ in the...

    Vwap

As an order flow trader, the trader's benchmark to beat is teh VWap when working an order. Even if the customer isnt holding you to it, it is always looked at in reference to your average price.. These orders in general are a pain in the ass for many reasons. a) Very time/labor...
