Sales guys of Sales and Trading desks

Try recruiters. If you have no exp. you are better off temping through a financial company to get your foot in the door. Be as helpful and assertive and attentive as possible without being pushy or overbearing. *** Even if things dont work out at your firm where u are temping, many people...

    On becoming a Market Maker

You need to be more specific. Equity? options? etc? Equity market makers (especialyl nasdaq) are all but extinct. ECN's destroyed that part of the business. I used to be one and it has gotten consistantmnly worse the last 3 years (since decimalization.)

    Trader P/L 2005

I was actually wondering this today.. Back in the old days stocks used to have drastic swings right b/4 the open due to opening print orders being executed at the lat possible second by market makers... It led to drastic and unpredictable swings right at teh open and for a few minutes after...

    New highs and lows

Diamondtrim, I saw your other thread and it/you have been very helpful so far. quick question re: trde ideas. Is there any reason you dont include volume in your scans? It seems to me that it would help get rid of false moves (I am thinking of your 40 consecutive high/low scan in...

Best Prop Firm At This Point In Time

Basically the way I look at it, "prop" is good for someone who is trying to get their feet wet, learn how to trade (through mentor, trial and error, or a firms "training" (which is 95% of time BS).. If you can become profitable (ie on a small scale), gradually learn and fix your bad habits...

Best Prop Firm At This Point In Time

Not sure what happened to you, but I never had a problem with them, and thought they mgt. was honest and helpful.. My only complaint is that was a period of time ( 1 month) where the system would crash a few times a week. they fixed that though... I did a search on Assent, but couldnt find...

Also remember that the industy and profit margins are switching from a commisison based system to more of a fee based % payout based on assest under management. In other words, you have to work 2x as hard to make the same $$ you did a few years ago. The old "stock jockey" approach has been...

    Cashmaker's hot stocks and trading

JUst an FYI... Most NASDAQ MM dont actively trade stocks and "hold them down/up".. MM are simply working customer orders, plain and simple and making a few pennies onto the average price. Since ECN's hold most of the flow, having a "book" is irrelevant for the most part... The olden days...

Brandon, I check out your webpage and found it very informative. I enjoy your journal, and find it pretty educational. I have a question about the OOPS setup you described in the webpage if you dont mind. For a long set up, does the wide ranging down day volume matter? I am guessing I...

Funniest thing ever seen at a prop firm

Ha. at the place I traded, we had a guy once inawhile who would come into work, trade, go out downtown and booze it up, and sleep on the office couch, and trade the next day. SWimply didnt want to deal with the wife and the commute i guess......

    Order busting

IT is still not fair. I worked for a market making firm an I believe some assistant at Morgan Stanley hit the wrong key and didnt realize and took a stock down 10 points... All trades were busted... The fact of the matter is it is all about lobbying and palm pressing, and clout. The bigger...

Classic Geometric Patterns and Narrow Range Setups

Can you elaborate a little on your thoughts here? I interpret what you are saying as since volatility works in cycles low to high back to low, since chart is coming out of a higher volatility period, then it is the wrong time to focus on it. any further insight you have would be great.
