US Housing...25% more Downside to go....

Day7793, I'll take a stab at what might be going on with you. Perhaps you bought up some property in the last 3 years...and now it looks you will have to wait longer than expected for appreciation. This maybe you didn't anticipate, therefore you do not want to hear any negative opinions on...

So if I understand you right, the individual investors edge would be to NOT go with the herd.....being the big money is using herd psychology to its advantage?

Market still down? Gloomy childs misc temper tantrum

day7793, waht is it that you are asking people to do? Why are you so comcerned if you are comfortable with the choices you have made? You say your home is worth $600,000 and you bought it for $60,000 You speak of your comfort level, and that is good for you, you obviously have made good...

Markets woes- blame the scarity American consumer

To look at the big picture and determine who are the "winners", it looks to me the winners are the lenders who were smart/deceitful/fast enough to pass the debts on and pocket their gain, but the biggest winners were the hedge funds who bet against the housing mess and bet on credit default swaps.

Markets woes- blame the scarity American consumer

Not to forget also as far as supply and demand go, the baby boomer generation spawned home building (those homes are still around of course) those baby boomers DID NOT have as many children as their parents did. As the baby boomers die off and leave another house in supply...in addition to...

Markets woes- blame the scarity American consumer

What you are suggesting is a cause and effect scenario, and you are taking the stance that ( becasue) people are not buying at the inflated prices, that (effect) home sales have become stagnant. That is not what has happened from waht I can see. First: Home prices started to appreciate...

Markets woes- blame the scarity American consumer

Would you buy a home if you knew it was during a bubble, therefore your new home had more of a chance of depreciating (first), before it eventually appreciated? This means your asking people to wait much longer to gain equity in their homes than is normal appreciation....not to mention the risk...

Markets woes- blame the scarity American consumer

I don't believe they stopped spending due to being afraid. Many who bit off more than they could chew due to relaxed and unethical lending practices in combination with the consumers greed to have that big house they couldn't really afford (but qualified for) these people finally reached a...

Uncertainty is the key word here. Yes uncertainty. Thats why exits are extremely important. Probability is not prediction, probability is what could occur, and its measured on its likelyhood of occuring.

I think the implication of the second mouse gets the cheese is; Wait for the breakout. Something or someone has to get the ball rolling (the first mouse) They (the first mice) could be winners too, but the (time) they spend waiting for price movement is longer than the second mouse. The...

Its about probablity more than prediction. If something seems probable (and that could be based on several ideas including some fundamentals) than you place your bet. If the bet turns against you, thats where cut your losses comes in. How far down a person lets the price go before exiting is...
