Patterns and aggregated data as basis for Hidden Markov Models and Bayesian networks

Jim Simons IS the standard for Hedge Funds today. You wouldn't believe some of the amazing models I've seen, and the techniques will never see the light of day, let alone here. http://www.olsen.ch/center/papers/hedgefuture.pdf

    Toughest trade in the world: S & P 500?

If you noticed the disclaimer of only my opinion you shouldn't have made anything into a dick measuring contest. This is why I don't bother with Elite anymore. 1) Any fund can start to buy/sell any 1 stock and make the futures a non issue as a leading indicator, true or false? On the...

    Toughest trade in the world: S & P 500?

This is just my opinion so take it as such.I ONLY trade ES 1) Leading indicator? Don't think there really is such a thing for any instrument traded. 2) Time and Sales does have patterns. Fear can be seen when size goes through. You have to make sure pure time/sales trades go through and not...

    My next motherboard

THE biggest problem for AMD to overcome has been support by other vendors b/c of the deals they have with Intel. Now with Opteron they finally have third party support, for example they have Via and nVidia making dual Opteron boards with their own chipsets and technology. Coming soon will be the...

Anyone ever heard of Steven Cohen????

FWIW from someone who knows someone, SAC makes most (percentage wise) of the firm profits from it's models. As always on Wall Street, when the info hits it old news so the ASSUMPTION SAC still front runs MAY (wink, wink) be what worked extremely well yesterday. SAC is progressive, like all...

    Power Supply

There are a few more variables than just multiple video cards, but yes this does make the demands more on power. Why don't you just swap out the old PS with a new one http://www.spartantech.com/products.asp?orderid=3157520182772158384323&cat=240 ?

    My next motherboard

That's not my writing, it was from a hardware website guy who assumes you know the difference between mainstream Xeon's and Itaniums(X-86 instructions maybe, no that would be too obvious, but this is Elite) . That's why the comparison with Opterons and Xeon's.

    My next motherboard

No matter what you choose you should stick with Opteron and AMD " internal HP benchmarks compariing their 3.2GHz Xeon server to their new Opteron Proliant servers. 1P and 2P configurations were shown, and even the 1P Opteron beat the 2P Xeon in Webbench. For dual processor configurations...

    fibonaci, golden ratio debunked

Here's one more, unrelated to the book. The market is an ocean of contrary indicators with sentiment being one on the list, but what about number cycles? Wouldn't the most common number cycles be the least important and least common be the most important? This is for all Square of 9 users...

    fibonaci, golden ratio debunked

Although I have read this extremely good book by a fine mathematician I don't think he goes far enough . He more or less debunks the common falsies but go deep enough and you will see some interesting things that can't be denied. I read where Rentec uses the golden angle, but wasn't told why...

Power Law and Fibonacci from Sornette and Bouchaud

A group I correspond with is this one http://order.ph.utexas.edu/ with more specifically http://order.ph.utexas.edu/research/ the chaos in NN systems. Science and the markets are related, to say they aren't is like saying humans don't follow the laws of physics, guess again.

There's Helium-3 in them thar hills!!

That's not entirely true, the classified results won't be known for years to come but the main problem (for the current direction) is materials. That is limited to this earth, hence the mission to mars and rock samples. Not everything is published.
