    thinkorswim and tdameritrade merger

Data subscriptions are normally a user-defined parameter from the TOS "settings" window. I have a hard time believing that TDA changed it for you. Data-agreements do change, but normally you receive an email that says "if you don't notify us to the contrary, your continued usage of our data...

    CBOE SPX feed into IB?

Ok, let's observe a couple facts here. First, You're accusing me of not knowing what the e-mini is after I posted two separate links to contract specs (one for ES options, the other for SP options). Think that one through next time. Further, SPX is NOT the same as SPM2 futures or ESM2...

    broker bankrupt: currency futures safe???

He was shown to be a fake who was trading on SIM. Search around this forum, & you can find the screenshot evidence of fake limit orders of 50+ lots in his DOM, when there are only 19-20 showing at that price level in the actual order book. Nothing against Dukas - I just wouldn't point to...

    CBOE SPX feed into IB?

My point exactly - and the terminology used in the posts never gives the impression that this changed. Apparently it is understood now. The question now is: if you want to trade S&P500 futures-options, why consider anything other than the ES? It's one of the most liquid contracts in the...

    CBOE SPX feed into IB?

All is clearly not well understood. You asked for help finding SPX options on CBOE, and are now looking for them under SPM2 on CME. Spend an afternoon Googling all of the terms in your question (which i quoted above), until you realize what is wrong with it. The answer should become...

    CBOE SPX feed into IB?

I repeat myself: Index, not future. Further explanation: (you should know this already - it is your basic responsibility): SPX = S&P 500 index. SPY is its ETF that trades like a stock. SPX and SPY options are traded on CBOE (as well as SPXPM and many other related products). They are...

What are the HFT scum up to?

I suspect that if it were so simple as port-blocking, sophisticated information technology companies like Nanex would not be writing articles of concern about it.

What are the HFT scum up to?

The problem, according to the Nanex article, is system stability. Massive quote-stuffing ties up so many resources that the system engines bog down for all stocks processed by that engine, and potentially could cause it to collapse (not my opinion - stated in the article). If this is not a...

What are the HFT scum up to?

How is anything accomplished by this? 47k+ quotes in less than a second, all within a $.01 range, but no trades. Don't you have to execute a trade to make money? Unless maybe your system depends on bogging-down the quotes in one stock as you trade in another . . (?). Maybe holding the...

    Understanding IB Spread Charts

Bone is not quoting it. CME is quoting it. It's an exchange-listed spread.

Anyone knows where I can find the documentary "The Pit"??????

It's on there - available for live-streaming. I just checked @ 11pm EST (right now). Just search, & it should show up as the first or second result.

    trade the E-micro EUR/USD M6E ?

Just for fun, I took this screenshot from TWS at 2:36pm EST today: Full-size futures on the left, Micros on the right. Edit: That's the bid/ask - I should have said that.

    thinkorswim and tdameritrade merger

Also, btw, if you trade futures at TDA, they will not automatically count toward Apex. You have to email somebody, & make sure that you're put on Apex status. The computer only sees the brokerage (equities-related) trades.

    thinkorswim and tdameritrade merger

I don't believe you can open directly through TOS anymore - the site redirects you to TDA's account-opening page. So you don't have much choice there. Apex is very easy to qualify for. Five trades per month average, & you're there. That's five trades, not five round-trips. Five Sides...

    trade the E-micro EUR/USD M6E ?

I thought there was no commission on forex? Maybe that's why the quotes I see are 3-4pips wide (still have access to forex quotes, and they still are that wide). Maybe it's 1.5 + comm, and 3-4 without? Either way, it's not significant savings compared to futures (and certainly not 3-4 ticks...

    trade the E-micro EUR/USD M6E ?

Also, I've never seen a 1.3pip spread. I would NOT say that that's the industry standard - even for larger sizes. I opened a couple of small forex accounts a couple years ago - just to look into the whole situation, & 3-4pips would be a more typical average once you get past the ad-promises, &...

    trade the E-micro EUR/USD M6E ?

Have a look at this 2011 year-in-review. Keep in mind that it was entirely written by forex industry people from a pro-forex perspective: http://forexmagnates.com/2011-forex-industry-summary-free-report/ Everything in that review is independently verifiable: the class-action racketeering...
