    Interactive Brokers Initial Public Offering

You must have been of those who bet the farm this thing was going down in late February.

    Interactive Brokers Initial Public Offering

Didn't Google do a dutch auction? I remember there were some complaints but I guess no one complaining now that it's move up so much.

    Interactive Brokers Initial Public Offering

I like IB since I use it which in itself should be a buy for me ie Peter Lynch's buy what you know. But is the asking price a good deal? I'm looking at other recent broker gone public and the charts look good. eftc, schw, amtd, oxps, cbot, cme, ice, nmx, nyse, nyx. In general...

    IB down!

I was down a good 20-25 minutes. There was some others who were having problems on the ButtonTrader newsgroup. It's back up now. They probably had to restart the server under their desk. IB trader probably kicked out the power cord. :)

c++ or java for trading app development

I recently had to do some stuff in C++. God I forgot how much I hated pointer arithmetic. Also that BS with const. C++ has some of the worse syntax. Code can get convoluted and make your head spin reading it.

Those Of You Who Got Caught In the Meltdown in April, May & June of 2006...

I will say the bull move after the meltdown was a cake walk. Any pullback was supported. You could double down/cost average to defend your position and it will come back up to where you could do break even or a nice gain. Try doing that now and you will get killed. Personally I did okay...

    daytrader loses it all.

Engineering students are well paid. In the states, they are some of the highest paid. Even if he doesn't graduate, he should be able to find work. Being just out of school, he won't be making a great deal initially but if he applies himself, I think 10 years is reasonable.

    IB Backfill problems

I'm clearing my charts and backfilling. I'm not getting todays data back. Each time I do it, I lose all current days data.

    daytrader loses it all.

Really sad that his parents get dragged into it. He's a young guy so if he went bust, he'll recover. But taking down your parents? Well I guess we know where his earnings for the next 5-10 years will be going.

    Market meltdown time?

One thing interesting to note, the foreign markets have tanked but the indices have not moved much. Last week, dax/ftse were moving the indices big time premarket. Indices may be setting up for a morning bounce but then they tank.

    book trader vs button

Another big vote for ButtonTrader. It has some of the best splitting functionality available. I really think it gives me an edge when I trade.

    Black Week (Mar 5 - 9)

Most sought after? Don't know if I completely agree with that. I do believe that we will try to retest the lows. Fibs retracements are as good as any other indicator in order to find resistance levels.

    Foreign Markets with IB

Bump for this thread. It answered my questions about trading the nikkei and hang seng. For traders who trade these markets with a USD denominated account, what is your strategy for converting back to USD? I don't think doing it daily is cost effective but doing it say once a month exposes...

Taking 76K to 500K by Year End

That's cool. But I'm actually hoping that neke accomplishes his goal. Be nice for once to see someone overcome the huge odds and prove the doubters wrong.

    Black Week (Mar 5 - 9)

Same thing with the RUT. 50% retracement to 795 before a rollover to test lows.

    Black Week (Mar 5 - 9)

sp bounced off 1374.07 low, currently 1402.85. I'm thinking at most 50% fib retracement to about 1418 before rollover. Either that or we're rolling over now.

Taking 76K to 500K by Year End

When someone says something like that, they want you to fail. You're losing because you don't have the proper setups for current market conditions. I'm all for making big bets but you need to have the patience to wait for the right setup.
