    CTA in Asia?

I know that some managed futures programs have found a lot of clients in Japan, I imagine because of the poor performance of Japanese stocks. Asiaprop, what you say is interesting. About the language skills, it had little to do with trading (although I can tell you that, with respect...

    CTA in Asia?

Where in Asia? You may just have to find a clearing firm, open an account and get going. Take your track record and use that to promote a managed futures program. Some places have very little regulatory oversight. You could have to register a company and in some Asian nations that can be...

May try the FX micro futures for position trades

The bid/ask spreads seem to be getting better. Anyone been trading 7E, 7A and so on? I'm considering using them to synthetically "change" small (10K) accounts' funding currency. For example, create the interest and FX risk that an account would have if it were denominated in Aussie though...

    FOK order

When you have any doubt about order types, I'd personally go straight to the exchange as they have different rules. http://www.cmegroup.com/globex/files/GlobexRefGd.pdf FOK orders on p.14. Yes you can do it. They have a good alternative if you can figure it out -- set the minimum quantity...

How do I choose a Commodities Trading Advisor (CTA)

A CTA's disclosure docs will have monthly stats. To compare with the S&P just enter monthly S&P returns into excel, and then the same for the CTA's, right? Maybe a better question is, what role are you looking for a CTA to fulfill? For example S&P options sellers are great until the world...

    Common Equity Spreads

Google: 'No results found for "spread traders die broke" ' And certainly not in futures.

Light Sweet & Brent Crude at ICE

Last but surely not least, a quant study on trading the spread technically (scroll down a little). Don't despair if the math is too much; one of their successful methods was a simple MACD (though a single indicator isn't enough for me personally).

Light Sweet & Brent Crude at ICE

As you've probably found it's pretty hard to get good info on this spread, so you really have to enjoy Googling... Also, I'm more than a little hesitant to provide any kind of trading advice to anyone without seeing how they trade, what their strengths and weaknesses are, etc. What works for...

That's good to hear; hope it keeps going well.

Evidence of Algo Trading on CL

That makes sense and agrees with my own thoughts, Bone. One of these days when I have more cash (trading for a track record now) I may well sign up for your mentoring...

Nice to see you Papa -- btw that SNL skit was funny as hell.

    grain spreaders

Yes, yes, good expensive charting systems, they're very nice. At some point I might spring something. Seems it must be possible to do it in excel for the slower spreads for now. Anyone have existing spreadsheets or know where to point? Jym, you can get (very crappy) spread charts on...

    grain spreaders

Jym is it a little hard to spread futures on thinkorswim? Can you get the actual exchange recognized spread with its order book? Try my.futuresource.com to chart spreads. But beware -- the charts aren't accurate really -- no OHLC just lines. Scarr trading has some stuff, and a couple...

Article Dedicated to the Naive Ones Here Who Think Oil Prices Aren't Manipulated

I personally think that those who blame all oil price movements on manipulation are the naive ones -- too naive or too scared to think that there might be something else to it, something having to do with the fundamentals.

    Sugar No. 11

Well, I'll also say that after seeing several spikes, esp in ag, I spent a good number of hours trying to figure out how to play them. Plants grow back, weather changes, seeds improve, there are substitutes. So if you look at a long-term monthly chart, like in a big CRB book, you find that...

Do you guys think opening an hour earlier would effect west coast traders mentally?

If you trade from the West Coast then you already wake up 4am a lot of the time. Now it would be waking up at 3am. Which is when many New Yorkers go to bed... Not to say the exchange shouldn't open earlier. But the Nikkei, Hang Seng and Kospi are looking better and better.

    Sugar No. 11

Then there is the ethanol componenet to sugar, though as long as the small ag states have their vice-grip on the Senate, there's no way the tariff on sugar ethanol will be lifted, as contrary to logic and good policy as that may be. (Low population states have so much influence in the Senate...

    Sugar No. 11

Right, well the question is, how hard is it for producers worldwide who use sugar to switch to corn syrup? In the US we use corn syrup precisely because sugar prices are kept artificially high by gov't policies. (Btw this backfires because corn isn't that healthy, but anyway...) In the...
