IntercontinentalExchange wins trading rights for Russell equity indexes

I think this will force the CME to lower the tick size / min price variation in the ES. If they change the ES to .1 or .05, the ICE Russell will probably not become liquid. Reason: 70% of all ER2 traders use this vehicle because its better MPV

Euro Stoxx 50, of course. FGBL and FGBM are still ok, but only the front ATM contracts.

10 percent of maids in Shanghai resigned because they made more money trading s

What I wonder is, why IB did/does not try to enter this market. (Shanghai and Shenzen Stock and offering accounts to chinese clients). Overheated or not - this will be a HUGE deal in the future. Regulatory, it is probably next to impossible, but not totally impossible after all.

What are the most liquid options on futures?

Try DAX and STOXX50 These are Cash Index Options - But, traded like FOPTs, cheap fees. Anyway, I hate the Eurex.

    Will IB offer mini-grains?

When IB said they would not offer NYBOT, a few people here started to bitch. Strange, now, that it is available, nobody seems to want to say "Thank You"... Could it be you overstated your "need for softs" ???? Anyway, Thanks to IB for implementing it.

IBKR opens @ 50 or so.

I advise against this strategy. Did you look at the vols ? Better buy shares and buy more if it keeps falling.

    beware of IB's cancellation fees

In '99 and '00 quite a few employees of CBOE firms left and started making markets on their own (some at home, some in arcades). The cancellation fees were implemented solely for the purpose to prevent this. The options exchanges are the old boys mafia's last resort now and I try to avoid...

IBKR Market Cap at 10.5 BLN ?!

As it is Sunday afternoon here and I feel a bit bored, I just wanted to discuss here whether you consider IB's targeted market cap of ~10 bln USD "justified". Let's look for a few comparisons (I know it cannot be compared this way, but the figures speak too nicely!): - NITE, the market...

bunk, no help, I already mentioned an idea of an "advanced pump&dump" that is not limited to penny or illiquid stocks. only a matter of time until the crooks find out !

    Bee Declines

I've also being following these news now for 2 months. This is scary, sounds like an apocalyptic harbinger. Scary also: ~2 months ago, thousands of birds fell right out of the sky in texas. Maybe, these events are somehow linked. Has anyone heard yet of a sound theory what causes this?

    IB Secure Device

I WANT TO PROPOSE THIS SECURITY MEASURE: It will be based on the existing IP restriction feature & the existing SMS alert feature. - expand the IP restriction feature to allow logins only from pre-defined IP ranges, (and Domains, like xxxx.att.net) - when a login from a different Domain /...

    IB Secure Device

Opra, sorry I cannot make any serious estimates regarding your security as there are _way_ too many unmentioned variables in this. BTW, 'YOU' is the biggest variable in this game. Google: PIBCAC

    IB Secure Device

Opra, a typical 32-bit WinXP will be infiltrated just when you e.g. visit an evil website with Internet Explorer. Worst case, this can even be yahoo.com when a "bad ad" is being hosted there. You will notice NOTHING. No Popup, no crash and no extra process in your task manager.

    IB Secure Device

Insurance or no insurance, the problem is very complex and I think it cannot be approached just by choosing a single "route". First and most important, I think IB's customers should be much better educated about computer security. In the past I opened a thread considering just this topic...

    IB Secure Device

Regarding what I call an "advanced pump&dump": Sorry I really do not want to make any further statements as it would only harm all of us. These Hackers might be reading a thread mentioning a security device. But the Mini S&P is one of the few instruments it would NOT work with.

    IB Secure Device

    - The only secure method I see (with the Secure Device) is to sign any order submission with it. But clearly, that is not practically viable, at least with a device that gives you a secret key each time. It would be different with a little USB token. But this would be platform dependent ! -...
