    Market orders for SPY

disregard the previous post (hit enter by accident) anyway... why do you use ARCA instead of ISLD?? Do you have any current market share data on the various ECN's for ETF volume? dog

    Market orders for SPY

I use ISLD exclusively. Generally use a limit order .01-.03 worse than the the best bid/offer. I often get price improvement on my fills via ISLD. ISLD used to post their QQQ market share on their site prior to the "blind ETF book." They were far and away the leader in share volume...

    Saddam seen...

being carried out of a bunker by Osama! Mullah Omar said to be waiting in the "get-away" buggy! Saddam's sons and Osama's sons (all 12 of them) following on camel! ... to say that I'm taking the Saddam sighting w/ a grain of salt would be an understatement (remember the whip-saw day 2...

    Your Decision and in-retrospect

"... the lure of easy money's got a very strong appeal -- you got to carry weapons cause you ALWAYS carry cash!" -- actually you'll discover that the early days (should you choose to accept this mission) are anything but easy! best of luck, dog:cool:

    step away from the "chop!"...

I resisted the urge to overtrade this afternoon. Going out today with some healthy gains, made primarily in the AM session. Main reason I kept it light this afternoon was the uncertainty of the impending 8:00 EST hour... and beyond. Actually not so much the uncertainty of 8:00, but more...

Fast and cheap >1000 shares ??

Exactly. Notice on the site that ECN's are not mentioned anywhere either. The only way I'd even consider using this broker would be if you could route to ISLD. I'm assuming (but will verify) that they do not allow ECN routing OR they have some ridiculous charge for this.

would be interested in hearing more about traders' experience w/ this broker. execution speed and reliability would concern me most (obviously). dog

    step away from the "chop!"...

Have resisted the urge to overtrade and turn a very nice morning into a break-even (or worse) day. Spoos doing the chop-chop in a bad way. Will look for a "melt-up" or "melt-down" into the close. Lack of "melt-up" yesterday btwn 3:45 and 4:00 makes me skeptical of a decent short cover...

    Teaching a teenager to trade

like maybe introducing him to drugs and/or alcohol! Why do you want to teach him about trading at 14?? I would stress the importance of a good solid college education instead. There will be plenty of time to learn about trading later on!

    Kids and Trading

I'm not taking any chances -- I leased an office at the beach and will move my operation there after the baby's born. Kind of looking forward to it. Working out of the house has certainly had its challenges -- although my house is large as well. Some people have a hard time understanding...
