    IB Suggestions & Improvements

I'm not sure your theory on that thread is totally correct. I've had stocks with multpile orders where one order gets rejected and the others do not. Also, it only seems to be shorts.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Since Friday I'm getting a large number of order rejections due to an error: COULD NOT VALUE THIS ORDER AT THIS TIME. These are all opening only orders on US Equities. It was still a problem today so i can only assume this isn't a temporary problem. It's really causing problems for my...

    Bright Trade

Can you explain why you think this will happen? The opening print (and closing print) will be exempt from Reg NMS as a benchmark exception from what I've read. Page 155 if you're curious.

    BBOX ereoneous trade

You can direct ARCA to route to other market centers or to not route out. I don't know at Tradestation, but at IB, routing to ARCA can only be done as "ARCA only". I imagine this is because IB has a SMART routing and they are saving you routing costs by not allowing ARCA to route for you. I...

Don's Openings and More for 2006

I'm +18K YTD after commish, including all mistakes (I've had a couple doozies). Won't be buying that jet anytime soon, but it's probably still worth my while. It's definitely tougher this year. I think it's due to all those bootcampers piling 1000 share OPG orders on all the usual suspects...

    Anyone in Chile??

I'm a mountain biker and whitewater kayaker. I've done some of the rivers further south in the lake district. They are world class. I've heard good things about the rivers around Pucon. I was told Pucon is similar in feel to some of the mountain towns of the US. Beaches are nice, but I tend...

    Anyone in Chile??

I've spent some time in Chile (Puerto Montt, Lake District and Chaiten/Futalefu areas). I loved the people and the country and would love to spend November through Feb there every year. I have heard good things about Pucon. Is it possible to get reliable broadband there? Has property...

    Trader P/L 2006

I know I haven't been posting regularly, but this one is worth sharing anyway. Record day. I'm stoked! The IB blotter is $1K light due to the way it accounts for long term positions.

IB's new limit on open orders

I suspect this was not implemented as a risk feature but rather as a resource conserving feature.

IB's new limit on open orders

I've started shopping. My favorite part of this was my closing orders being rejected. Does wonders for an automated system. IB, you have total domination of the industry within your grasp and then you always seem to find a way to shoot yourself in the foot. Unbelievable.

    Series 7.... useful?

You're way overthinking this. If the firm you want to trade at requires a Series 7 take it. Otherwise don't bother (in fact, you can't take it unless a firm sponsors you). It has no relavance to trading or a career in trading beyond being a regulatory hoop to jump through. Firms are trying...

    Series 7.... useful?

A Series 7 is required to trade at most prop equity firms. That's all there is to it. Does it have any relevance to trading? Only in the most general sense. It's a hoop you're required to jump through to trade prop. Nothing more.

    Sugar Cane Fuel Production...

One word - water. There's a reason cane grows in Hawaii and not Arizona. Your chances of getting ground or surface water in sufficient quantities to grow cane is about zero. Here in Idaho, a fair number of farmers didn't plant their spuds last year because they were junior water rights holders...

Don's Openings and More for 2006

I pull my drillers on CVX or XOM earnings. Just a thought. Regarding overlapping strategies, can you build spreadsheets to monitor each strategy separately rather than relying on your broker's positions monitor? Personally, I run different accounts for different strategies.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

P=4B is wrong. You are assuming retail leverage. This strategy is best employed using prop leverage and you'll probably find most of the profitable posters are trading this strategy prop.

    Trader P/L 2006

A whole lot of nothing. But then again I just missed getting filled short in IBM on the open and getting raped. Compared to that "nothing" sounds nice. My week of posting is up. Was an interesting experience. Good luck all.

    Trader P/L 2006

Just a quiet solid day. Traded the intraday much better. Stuck to my convictions and got paid for them.

    Trader P/L 2006

Good open, terrible intraday, good close. Follow plan, lose money. Quit following plan, try to trade out of it and lose a lot more money. Some lessons seem to need to be repeated.

    Trader P/L 2006

First, my apologies to Pete. When bighitter mentioned you by name I just assumed he was right that you were a 100 lotter. Obviously that is incorrect. Keep up the good work. Second, I'm going to post for the next week and see how it goes. I'd rather not discuss my strategies beyond...
