I look forward to the day when I will trade with the proper tools for data and brokerage, ones that do not 'slow down' or just plain lockup when the volume gets heavy, ie FOMC days, etc.

Here is a reply to a PM about my trade today: Yes it was quite a retrace from a PnL standpoint. Very easy to get caught up in the PnL and get distracted from what the market is telling you. Looking back now would there be anything different to do? NO! Not on coarse or 'forest' level. Now...

Awesome gooch! I was in the same trade, only 3 SECONDS later than your entry! Fortunately I was able to hold for 20 more minutes. <img src=http://elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1670797>

Oh this one is easy for me, when I realize I cannot let go of the mouse because I'm in a trade. I take a mental step back, reassess, and either force myself to let go of the mouse and HOLD, or exit and regroup.

Here is my reply to a PM I received today in reference to callmate's chart from earlier today and my post that followed. Thought it might be of interest. First the DT FTT on the 1045 bar let me know to expect price to go down. Could be a retrace so let's watch what happens at the RTL...

Oddi, As a refinement to volume bars, Mak posted in an older thread, how he disregards the bars before 0945 and after 1545. I believe this is what he did to make the 'volume vs volatility' chart. Hope this helps, Mike

No I didn't. I see no problem in the way you drew your gau. Notice where the black volume 'peaks' within that gau and how the volume behaved after that when price 'peaked' later. See how volume leads price? The emphasis has to be on volume! Especially when you start to trade this live.

Not at all. The time should be 1225. Now I know why Jack uses bar numbers instead of 'time'. Mike Edit: See what could have told you sooner than the FTT at 1225? A LTL bounce with price going higher but VOLUME not increasing. Is this what happens to keep price 'continuing' up? So now...

Ok, let's not pretend, and do what the market actually tells us. Your blue channel pt 3 is what you are saying is an FTT. It seems someone else is 'jumping fractals'. For the purpose of your blue channel, you would enter on the FTT at 1010, then hold through the retrace to pt 3 at 1140...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

On your posted chart you show a pt 3 at 1145. The LTL bounce was a bar earlier, looks like you had those as your pt's 1 and 2. So you would hold through the retrace at 1210 and exit or reverse on the channel FTT at 1225 with a RTL BO exit if you were slow at 1230. Am I reading your chart wrong?

bi9, On your ES chart, the last down channel (green) shows a VE (volatility expansion) prior to a pt2. Is this what you intended?

How ironic that the formation or 'dip' we discussed ended up being the low of the day so far. So did it indicate a change in sentiment? Was it important? Well in hindsight everyone should agree it was. How soon one can see the sentiment change is what leads to profits... or not.

Really? This isn't sentiment change? Does anyone know if a FTT will lead to a BO or just a FBO?
