Still Can't get it Right. I think its completely Subconciously

This won't totally fix your issues but it might help. Your self control is higher when your blood sugar is higher, so drink koolaid or gatorade or eat a candy bar when you're feeling itchy. Other tasks that require self-control sap a finite supply of self-control, so a punishment for yourself...

Stocks in a Vacuum Up Scenario

Sounds to me like we have the ingredients for a serious pullback as the fund managers drop stocks as quickly as they can while they still are showing a profit.

    Citi Profitable?

There was a chart floating around here, and many of the mortgages that aren't bundled into MBSs, Citi is carrying at 100% of the original value. So, no, they haven't marked everything to market. They aren't required to if it's an asset that that is considered to be held to maturity (and I...

Farmers Want Obama to Make Carbon a Cash Crop Under Climate Law

Hmmm, wonder if this is a stealth way of pushing up commodity prices by encouraging farmers to use methods that yield less? Kind of like the crop burning during the GD, but all dressed up and a new excuse made for it.

    an S&P earnings first

The problem with looking at the S&P aggregate earnings is that they calculate them by simply adding up the earnings of all of the companies on the index, while the index itself is weighted by market cap. So, a company that has a tiny weight on the index could produce a large loss, and skew the...

Meredith Whitney and AIG Bamboozled Press?

He's been wrong, he admits it. He thought shorting treasury notes was a good idea for long term at the beginning of the crisis. Obviously, though, he uses stops because his bad calls haven't made him poor. Last I heard, he's buying farmland. That one is slightly harder to place a stop on.

Kass: Why the Bears Are Wrong

China calls for new reserve currency

Could this in any way help the treasury bonds the Chinese already hold? Seems like this would devalue the dollar a lot, perhaps more than the goofy actions our government's already doing. Seems the Chinese are damned to suffer losses on their treasuries no matter what? Or, is there...

Why can't I make money - when I know what do do?

One thing I've found that helps is to tell myself I can only take what the market gives me. And repeat that, and repeat that if I *ever* find myself "hoping" a trade works out. It doesn't matter what *you* hope for. Really think you can move the markets?

    Would hyper inflation kill stocks?

Why would foreigners stay invested in the US market if the dollar started devaluing quickly? This is what I think might be very damaging to US stocks. I imagine there's a lot of foreign money in the market. Say bye-bye to that if the dollar keeps devaluing. Here's what our market is...

    Would hyper inflation kill stocks?

No one knows. Take a look at the Zimbabwe market, it gained more than their currency lost, but they are a net exporter. Since the US is a net importer, heavily concentrated on services, I think those stocks would get killed (eventually). Since the stocks that depend on exports depend on...

How will you play dollar crash?

I've been thinking about doing this, please everyone let me know your opinions. Just putting my cash into a basket of currencies and rebalancing monthly. Wouldn't that essentially keep you constant with regards to currencies? I don't think you want to just be in currencies, since they are...

CFR Professor Reveals Plot for Military Coup in 2012.....economic reactions?

It wasn't a study, it was a fictitious article (I went to the link and read it), and it was written in '92. Interesting that it was brought up at that conference, but it wasn't a study.

    How To protect your Cash

If banks start failing, you might have counterparty risk and the ETFs might not trade at their correct values. So, I'm not sure what the answer is. I've been thinking about this myself.
