I would reckon S&P500 index price moves with the underlying stocks, same as if you buy 500 different stocks in your account and your account value/balance changes every day with those 500 stocks.

Indices are the composition of a set of stocks so indices move with the stocks, not the other way around. Trading indices is the same as trading individual stocks, except that indices are usually less volatile than individual stocks.

Without a good big picture view all trades will become scalping. That is why traders exit good trades too early.

The current crypto exchanges are not regulated so they operate in a gray zone and when shit happens those crypto “investors” would have no recourse whatsoever.

Risk management is not just for small guys. Timing is everything whether long or short. “Never let a winning trade become a losing one.”

I think scalping and trend trading (what Ken described above) can both make money. Of course, market changes and it impacts scalping more severely. In other words, trend/momentum trading is a more sustainable strategy. I have been down the road of scalping and for some time was quite successful...

Haha it’s indeed a balance between being prepared to lose and positive expectancy. With enough experience and training you’ll be at home with it. Trading is a game of probability. Being comfortable with losses is the first step to success.

In principle trading in any time frame is the same due to the fractal nature of the market. Day trading is more challenging technically, however.

In my view the 2 charts are quite different. In the first chart DEF is more like a half way 50% pull back before resuming an uptrend. Whereas, in the second chart KLN is clearly on a downtrend.

Again, read the market sentiment and watch for the big picture. Did it look like a reversal or downtrend anytime during the day? Perhaps a few times but wait a little longer it became clear.
