let us chip in to buy a system

Nivla, Speaking as a system trader myself, my advice is unless you create a system yourself and understand EXACTLY how it works and why it is profitable, then don't system trade. To buy some pre-canned system, especially a black box one, is just asking to be serparated from your hard earned...

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

tech, are you talking about IB's smart routing? You don't say which exchange you found so horrible. Maybe I should look for another broker for stocks with an API that supports personalized routing, if such exists.

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

I use IB's API, so I can't specify exchanges. My only option is smart routing.

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

anyone here trading the QQQs with IB's smart routing via API or otherwise? What kind of slippage are you seeing with your market orders? If you trade the SPY I am interested in hearing about that too.

How to know when youre not cut out for this?

janko, you need to get over the scared money attitude. You need to be comfortable with the fact that you may lose everything. However, losing everything doesn't mean you are a "loser". Remember that! How many great people have gone bust before they rolled in the green? Too many to count...

    prem, futures, program trading

LouiseJefferson, I think the "fast cash" is $IQX. You may have to pay for the full CME feed to get it. Just looking over it quickly, the 1min bars look pretty bad though, lots of gaps, etc. I don't watch it myself, so I may be wrong.

    The modern "Family"

Maybe there are some things about our society that are deteriorating, personal ethics, poor lifestyle choices, etc. However, IMO, we still have SO MANY things to be thankful for. I read a NYTimes editorial about how the murder rate in Sao Palo Brazil is ten times that of NYC. The upper crust buy...

    ideal barebones system

hmm, pokey are you sure that the xp2000+ fsb @266 would limit the memory speed? I think with my mobo I could overclock the mem, but I don't know much about such things. Too late now, I already ordered. Hehe. I need to get this new system up and running so I am slightly rushing it here. This is...

Sterling and others, Thanks for all the help! Here is the basic system I am looking at right now (all prices @ newegg.com): - ASUS A7V333 mobo (this supports the legacy ports I need, has overheating protection for the CPU, does have a few extras I don't need though... The other choice...

    ideal barebones system

pokey, I am starting to think about the Athlon XP myself. Looking at the benchmarks, the Athlon XP actually does much better than the P4 in many cases, especially the floating point calcs, number crunching, etc. Since the whole point of my new system is to crunch data faster, it seems logical...

    ideal barebones system

The shuttle ss50 looks nice, but since I already have several NICs, an ATI all-in-wonder pro 128, a nice sound card, I would kind of like to use those if possible. The ss50 sure is cute though.
