How About a Depression that Lasts for 20 Years?

Yes, in nominal dollar terms if they print enough we can each pretend we didn't get a pay cut. But when we get to where other countries refuse to buy an additional $1.5 to $2 trillion of our bonds each year, or heaven forbid, try to actually reduce their holdings of dollars, the dollar will...

How About a Depression that Lasts for 20 Years?

Yes, that could be accomplished with a 90% devaluation, and at the same time make America cost competitive with everyone but China. Maybe that's why our government and Fed don't even flinch with a 30% devaluation already having been done. It would be a good way to do it while pretending not to...

How About a Depression that Lasts for 20 Years?

Look again. Your stock prices went up, but the dollars they are valued in went down even more, and you will pay 30 or 40% tax on that devaluation. How easily you have been fooled. As for the depression, or long recession, my guess is it last till the baby boomers are mostly dead, which...

China just called Gold a "bubble"

Ok, then WHO will lend it to us? Or will we just print it and lend it to ourselves?

10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

Employers spend a lot of time and money making sure the ads and job descriptions are such that no American will want the job or qualify. They will hire the H1b folks at 1/2 the pay or outsource the whole thing. Been there...

    Gold futures

Another deleveraging WIPE-OUT... I wonder how many millions would lose jobs in a 2nd round of the wipe-out game? Maybe they decided the medicine to cure high gold prices is worse than the disease.

China just called Gold a "bubble"

So, do you think they will lend us another trillion this year? As long as they keep buying oodles of dollars, "All is well", but when they try to slow it or stop, who will buy them all? We need someone to step up and buy another $1.8 to 1.9 trillion this year from the looks of it. That's...

China just called Gold a "bubble"

The US is "supposed" to own a lot of gold, but we may find out that a lot of it was "swapped" to "stabilize" the price, and all we actually are holding is a portion of whats left of it, and a lot of IOU's. As for China, to bring their gold reserves to a reasonable level vs paper, they would...

    Gold futures

Everyone is waiting for numbers to cover/reload at from 1110 down to 1050 where India bought from all the commentary I've seen. Its all paper promises anyway. I heard COMEX "delivered" GLD shares to anyone that wanted to take delivery of bars. Good luck getting any actual metal. The CB's...

Biden Declares U.S. Is in a Depression

He just told the truth by mistake is all. They will beat him up for it and he won't make THAT mistake again. The REAL problem is, of course, that the definitions they use for recession and depression are completely wrong, and by the time they declare it a depression we will be in year 10 or...

Why is there a dollar shortage in the real US economy

The vast majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and off their credit cards. Pay cuts are now typically at 25% among people I know that still have jobs. The ones who have been laid off are only getting unemployment, which is not enough to live on. Add to that, credit card co's...

to save the USA and make it great again, people must abolish The FED

It took someone with the guts and determination of Andrew Jackson to do it last time. I don't see anyone like him waiting in the wings, do you?

Gold above 1200$ an ounce in 2009?

COT Commercials seem to think gold is cheap, or they wouldn't be covering recently. IMO, it will take them another 4 weeks to cover enough that they can then allow the price to rise, and my guess is that the only reason they are covering here is because they must know in advance that the...

    Marketsurfer's bold gold proclamation

He was way wrong, No ands, ifs or buts about it. Up 90% overall YTD, here. It would have been a similar sized loss instead if he had been right. The difference to me was at least $600,000 because that was the gain. Not sure if I should fade his ridiculous calls next time or not. Even...

Gold's future over the next 5 years.......

A good 5 year target would be $3000 per oz, I think, but if this gets wild $10,000 per oz wouldn't surprise me. Its really a fast moving target with all the central banks printing money like madmen.

    Inflation....Deflation....?

Inflation - increase in costs of what you need to buy Deflation - decrease in amount of money an employer is willing to pay you You don't even want to THINK about it in terms of money being created these days. You'd scare yourself to death if you did.

Gold's future over the next 5 years.......

Thats total world annual production... Just the boys in Washington alone are creating money at 20 times that rate. I shudder to think how much money and credit all the central banks combined are creating on an annual basis these days. It has to be an absolutely horrifying number.
