No matter the skill or experience level, even a newbie can win the WSOP and be concidered the worlds best. Haven't seen too many top 10 hedge fund managers with less then 10 yrs. experience, concidered the best of the best.

Reardon, I think that the media has done a fantastic job of hyping poker as an any mans game and road to riches but it reminds me of the stock market 95-2000. Very few will keep what they have made, if at all. Pohpoh I lived in Vegas for 3 years and made my living counting cards...

Ripley Go and watch Samurai Trading (Nisan) again and pay close attention to the points he makes besides the patterns. Then do lots of homework the night before. :) The best part about today's trades was the fact that the volume I did shud at least help me lower my comm rate .... lol.

Nice to know I have company :( My P/L has been a yoyo all day long and comm costs are brutal today. Shuda closed out at breakeven just before lunch !

When I swing trade I use a totally different mind set and decision making process then when I intrday trade. I can see why an employer would not want an employee to be too reactionary is my point. I agree though people are hired based upon many merits not just thier resume but let's face...

Prop firms will teach you to think and react "in the moment" and that's great for this job and maybe a FEW other jobs BUT most careers want people to think things threw rather then reacting. Thus prop would be considered bad.

But wait ! Who is Jamie Gold and where are all these "so called" top skilled players? Poker is a big JOKE filled with half truths .... it's pure GAMBLING with an element of skill but still just GAMBLING!!!

If a trader makes $1 everyday for a year but then loses $357 in a week is he a profitable trader ?
