How about with options? Make up a watch list of 10 stocks and you will have at least one ATM option double every day. Example: GOOG, RIMM, AAPL, SLV, USO, QQQQ, DIA, POT, GLD, NFLX. Start = $1,000 1st trade = $2,000 2nd trade = $4,000 3rd trade = $8,000 etc.

OK ....... SPY has weekly options and 1 strike OTM are going for $0.51 with 4 days to expiry. Every 100 shares worth of "insurance" is going to cost you about $51.00 weekly. That's a lot of money.

What stock do you have in mind? Then we can crunch the numbers.

I think you will find that puts are VERY EXPENSIVE insurance and not worth it.
