    GUNS!

We had one 50 cal but rarely shot it. Too painful to the shoulder. :p

    GUNS!

Of all the guns I've shot, never shot an assault rifle. Not much use for animals. :)

    GUNS!

Definitely got some "age" to it. Uncle lived with us when I grew up. Had 2 buildings full of stuffed animals & about 50 guns. This is one of 6 I still have. Brothers & uncles have the rest.

    GUNS!

Using Options To Protect a Large Portfolio

Buying puts will have the same "carry costs" as buying calls. If not you could do an arbitrage trade. Preferred choice would be call spreads with NO premium.

Using Options To Protect a Large Portfolio

1-Uses much less capital than purchasing underlying & buying puts. End result the same. 2-Simpler set-up than buy underlying & buying puts to protect.

Who or what pays (receives) interest on higher (lower) interest rate currencies?

I was referring to a physical bank. Completely different than a broker. If I buy/short the dollar index then I'm long/short the base currency of my brokerage account. If I exchange US$ for Pesos at a physical bank, I'm not short US$. I just have less US$ and more Pesos. I never have to buy...

Who or what pays (receives) interest on higher (lower) interest rate currencies?

Brokers are just passing along the interest costs/proceeds to the customer minus a cut for themselves. They're not trying to "entice" any particular trade. Brokers are interested in trading. As I mentioned earlier, the interest amount is so minor relative to the profit/loss of the price movement...

Using Options To Protect a Large Portfolio

Rather than using options to protect $400K, just purchase DITM calls or call spreads in SPY. Put the remaining 75% in the bank @ 2% (1 yr. CDs) or some other investment. Buying smaller amounts of call spreads in TLT (bonds) or GLD (gold) could also act as some protection for a lower SPY.

Who or what pays (receives) interest on higher (lower) interest rate currencies?

The swap (interest) fees are calculated by the broker. MXN has higher interest rates now than the US$ so long USDMXN will cause swap fees. Each broker is a bit different with regards to the fees so need to check the website to see how they calculate the fees. The fees are continuous as long as...

Who or what pays (receives) interest on higher (lower) interest rate currencies?

1-Long US$ vs. short MXN will have negative swap fees so you'll pay interest. Broker will deduct from your account. 2-That's not a chart I'd want to be long now IMO. 3-There are multi-year periods in that chart where trend was down. Hope you're patient :-)

    Where I'm at

If you're looking to swing-trade, then equities trend better than most markets. Moving averages work pretty good for trending markets. Zoom out so your emotions aren't up/down based on every candle change. Create a few rules based upon the MAs. Example: Ribbon above MA = LONG only. Ribbon below...

Day trading (index) futures with IB?

1-NT Brokerage is just an IB, not a broker. They have partner brokers that are allowed to use NT. They have direct relationship with 2 futures brokers. See website. No opinion about which is better. 2-My issue was just that I didn't like having 2 platforms (TWS & NT) running just to trade. TWS...

    Currency Shares for Forex Exposure

Currency ETFs are OK for swing trading or investing. They have a slight lag in performance due to an "expense ratio". If you buy EURUSD forex now you'll have to pay swap fees (not shown in chart) so in the end it's all about the same results as FXE.

Day trading (index) futures with IB?

Had an account with IB for about 10 years. Closed it because it was too "painful" using Ninjatrader with IB. Need to keep TWS platform running along with NT platform. Other partners of NT don't require additional platform. Other NT brokers have daytrading margins as low as $500/contract for ES...
