yeah, its a big concern. i get the blues in socal when its gray outside. i'm afraid i'd be suicidal in short order in WA. but make no mistake, cali is done - there was a study done comparing those leaving with those in-,igrating and the higher wage earners are leaving & the welfare types are...
the UAW & the car companies screwed themselves. the less they sell, the higher the legacy costs are per vehicle that they produce. stick a fork in 'em. I can remember my Mom had a Union job & she was against it when they were forced to strike. She routed freight and they were replaced almost...
I have a serious question for the people in Mich.
I read somewhere that recently the median home price (in detroit?) was like $7,500. that is one month's pay for a UAW member - working or not since they get 100% pay to not work. So how tough can it be if you can guy a home every month?

not arguing, just disagree. :p
well actually, with money velocity, it cud have been more... but i suspect lots would have gone to reducing debt, setting aside for rainy day, etc... which is good, if you overlook the fact that the we still owe the money, plus interest...
two things will help support westside prices on a relative basis.
1. school systems... i can remember when manhattan beach 2br units rented for less than $2,000 per month & private school tuition was $1,000/month per child... so basically, you could rent in M.B. at a "wash" if you had 2 kids...
maybe a worthless question, but what is the sales tax rate in NYC... its 8.25% in the city i live - raised to pay off a $55M bond for a new City Hall.
