The end of the line for an international monetary system based on the “US dollar”

Then stay tuned. You'll be watching and reading about the implosion of Russia and those other banana republics long before their media publishes the US' death certificate. "History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme." - Mark Twain

The Only Bailout Thread I'll Start

How would getting rid of a fractional reserve system insulate depositors from stupidity or fraud?

The Only Bailout Thread I'll Start

Too soon to tell, but it could turn out to be the classic situation of the body being too stupid to realize the brain is already dead...

The Only Bailout Thread I'll Start

If your figures of deposits to reserves are correct than banks are operating at around 25:1 leverage. Explain to me how a CD earning around 4% APY is a true reflection of the risk that sort of leverage carries? Same goes with people building houses in high-risk areas. Fine with me, but I...

The end of the line for an international monetary system based on the “US dollar”

Most of Europe will encounter much of what the US is facing right now, and most probably worse as well. Is the world going to shunt around them too? Japan? Australia? Don't kid yourself, this is a world-wide problem. If the emerging markets choose to insulate themselves from the...

The end of the line for an international monetary system based on the “US dollar”

SA, When the US sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold still holds true. If the US gets a cold this time the rest of the world will develop pneumonia. Real Estate, fiat money, over-leverage, over-development, it all exists elsewhere. Globalization works both ways.

    SKF halted

Same thing here, buy order stood, sell was busted. I was sitting at the computer last night when it happened around 6pm. Didn't want to risk holding it over the weekend since it was dropping so I unloaded in AH for a $4/share gain instead of the $2/share I had from the original sell.

    SKF halted

The whole situation sucks. With SKF off TradeStation's easy-to-borrow list for a few weeks I was figuring a good ride today based on short covering alone.

    Tradestation and naked shorting????

I don't quite understand that letter either since I'm not able to short anything unless it's on their easy-to-borrow list and is not on their SHO list.

    SKF halted

    TradeStation still shows SKF halted.

    SKF halted

Really weird... Bought @ $91.83 but was able to get out just now while it's still halted @ $94.86. Probably gets canceled...

What's the play if LEH goes under

I agree, problem is I trade via TradeStation and SKF has been off their easy-to-borrow list going on forever. What other D/A brokers out there have shares available? TIA

Let's play "teach IronFist how to use volume in his trading" (lots of pics)

I guess it never crossed your mind that mandatory conscription might actually deter military action, not encourage it? BTW, I say this as someone who volunteered after the draft was suspended, proudly serving for six years in the service of this nation. I daresay this country wouldn't be...

The American way of dealing with economic problems

This country was built by immigrants looking for a better way of life and government for all other immigrants in search of same. And, through our own apathy we have allowed those founding principles to be debased by a bunch of greedy opportunists. We earned this mess we're in. But, just...

The American way of dealing with economic problems

"You have to be very dumb and stupid to move this thread from the economics forum to the chit chat forum" SA, your posts (aside from the highly annoying habit of yours to preface each one with redundant information) are just opportunities for you to chat about the anti-American chit you...

Need help coding Jh volume indicator for esignal

Jack, Believe me, I've been there, done that, tried and pulled my hair out while trying to decipher your body of work. Your posts remind me of being stuck in a Zork maze of twisty passages, all alike and different, simultaneously. And, please save the wisecracks. I'm a systems...

The US economic system and the illusion of flexibility, agility, and efficiency.

South America, History rhymes, pure and simple. Regardless of the demographics surrounding 1812, the point is that the U.S. had allowed itself to grow complacent. It's military had eroded badly in the space of 40 years and the British took advantage of it on the open seas. The civil...
