Mkt Trying to Make a Bottom Since About 10:30 Last Night....

Yup. I’m aware. I’ll be out of it before the close, at the latest, no matter what

Mkt Trying to Make a Bottom Since About 10:30 Last Night....

Bought SPY@412.04 this morning. With less than 15% of S&P 500 stocks above the 50 day moving average we are so overdue for a relief rally I don’t think it will last though

    Safe as cash investment

with 7% inflation, if you keep it in cash you will lose 7% in a year in terms of purchasing power, IOW, your money will buy 7% less. But if you buy bonds that don’t mature when you need the cash, you may sell the bonds at a loss. And if you buy short term bonds (government is safest) you won’t...

    Looking bad, Real Bad

Look for a bounce really soon. Put/call ratio high, % of stocks trading above their 50 day MA very low as of yesterday, will get worse this morning.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

When Russia invades, go ALL IN...

it’s actually an excellent example of why you have to be careful what you take seriously on an Internet forum for traders.

We've seen the bottom, up from here

I know. It was one of my few “buy and hold forever” stocks. I sold it yesterday afternoon.

We've seen the bottom, up from here

only 25% of SPX stocks closed above there 50 day MA today. Tells me we are close to a tradable bounce. But as you said, it likely won’t last long. Amazon breaking all support on heavy institutional selling after a double top is a bad signal.

    I Vote Lower.

This is Amazon. Not good for the overall market

    I Vote Lower.

Seems like the market is so due for a bounce. Almost 70% of NYSE stocks below the 50 day EMA. So I’m thinking we could rally any day. But, beyond the very short term, lower we go. AMZN, MSFT, GOOG, all under the 50 and 200 EMA on both daily and weekly charts, with down sloping 50 EMA. Can’t be...

Seems to me, the fact that you are about even since the beginning of the year in this environment shows solid, disciplined risk management.

    Did I miss something

It’s not Russia thing itself, it’s what the Russia thing will do to global energy prices COMBINED WITH a Fed that’s getting serious about tamping down inflation.

Thanks. That’s what I thought. In my original post I meant to say my guess is the former, not latter

    Define “Edge”

Expiated, thanks, this is good stuff. It’s similar to what I’m thinking…moving averages combined with standard deviation, possibly relative strength.

    Define “Edge”

Can anyone recommend a site where I can do paper trading? Other than TD where I already have my account. If I had more than one lace, I could be testing/playing with multiple strategies. Which might help me find my edge

    Define “Edge”

Some good responses, thanks guys. Still trying to find my edge. (Since I’m still in learning mode) that’s why I’m not seriously trading yet

    New Journal

What’s your sell strategy? It looks like a lot of trades being sold for minuscule losses. Is that. Because it’s end of day and you want to go home flat? Or super tight stops? I’m guessing the latter?

    Define “Edge”

And what’s yours, if it’s not proprietary and you are willing. I have a sense of what edge is, but not sure I can define it properly. Maybe “some advantage that increases your odds of winning”? Dunno
