    Bitcoin Price Thread

I bought a house in 1984. The mortgage rate was north of 15%. The payments were still less than rent at the time. Now with a house if I ran into financial trouble I could always rent a room out. I still have the same house, fully paid for and my kids will have something to sell eventually. If...

    Bitcoin Price Thread

I would think that the price would have to become more stable to become a prefered currency. I don't think I would want to deal in a currency that can fluctuate +10% in a week.

Actual data supporting no use of stop losses

Just how do you handle positions in your account that move against you? If your thinking was not correct or there is news that changes your thinking, do you take losses? What do you refer to thoses losses as? Maybe the semantics are confusing. What if we referred to it as a capital protection exit?

White House: Biden Will Veto Bitcoin Legislation

That's exchanging money. I'm talking about moving cash (US$) from a Canadian bank to a US bank. I have a US$ account at a Canadian bank (BMO) but US banks will not accept a cheque drawn on a Canadian bank without a fee.

White House: Biden Will Veto Bitcoin Legislation

It's actually the only thing that I found useful about Bitcoin. I could travel across borders and have access to what ever currency without restriction. Moving money, even from Canada to the US is a hassle. Supposedly with Bitcoin I could send money to other countries without the hassle of going...

White House: Biden Will Veto Bitcoin Legislation

Is that true between countries. Not sure now but a few years ago it was almost imposible to get US and Canadian banks to do anything immediately. 10 day clearing process and usually a charge involved.

Perfect example of why S&R is just plain wrong analysis.

That's because you know what your plan is and I'm trying to figure it out. You have to dumb stuff down so that I can understand you. :) That's what I understood, if the price of BTCC.b falls you will average down. How many adds do you typically do before you reach a full position? Any hint as...

So I’m working on a project

How many stocks in the portfolio? Dogs of the Dow has 10 I believe. Does the criteria have a minimum dividend, need to be a dividend aristocrat or any other filters?

Perfect example of why S&R is just plain wrong analysis.

1/2 of what? 1/2 a position or 1/2 of your initial position in BCTT.b. How about a hypothetical example. If your full position is 100K How much is your initial position and how many times will you average down to get to a full position? (Do you buy 25K to start and add in 25K tranchs until...

Not sure exactly what a kicker position is, can you explain. I'm under the impression that you don't take a full position right off the bat, so that you can average down as the price falls. Again I'm assuming that your first entry would be in the neighborhood of 1/3 a full position, please...

Perfect example of why S&R is just plain wrong analysis.

Time will tell. I think it will depend on where BTC trades. I know he doesn't like to have losses so we'll see if he averages down. BITI could drop significantly if BTC rallies to new highs. I don't understand having a long and a short position at the same time, some kind of hedge I guess...

That remains to be seen. Keep us posted. Let us know when you exit BITI.

I take it you then have a fair sized position started in BTCC.b and will be adding more if/when it drops. This is true. Sounds like a pretty good arguement for using stops and limiting your losses.

Perfect example of why S&R is just plain wrong analysis.

I have margin accounts. But I don't need them to short Bitcoin if I use the ETF BITI. If I shorted Bitcoin and held while it went up there is no limit to my losses as long as I can fund the account. If I buy BITI all I can lose is my initial investment. An example is SQQQ which shorts the QQQ...
