    Understanding leverage

That 10:1 is what I'm after...with, as you say, cash to back the trade. As the trade moves more in my direction, I can reduce the cash position. I bought that book and I'm hoping to work through examples that I can apply to the plan. Then I have to figure if it'll be more profitable to put...

    Understanding leverage

Just bought "money management strategies for futures traders" - I think that will be able to help me figure the math. I don't suppose you have the playbook for George Soros's short GBP, do you?? Seriously question tho, how did he approach that opportunity??? BTW - not talking about...

    Understanding leverage

I believe, in the CME currency futures contracts (except the yen contract), that the leverage employed is 10:1. What I'm interested in finding out is: if I put up 1/10th my trading capital to initiate a position, how much "backup" capital do I need to cover that position to a certain...

    Intraday chart

No, here's sarcastic: "Great answer, but it doesn't really answer my question" :p Oh, and there's a great spot for me right there in retail, I'll work my volume up. You don't need to be an institutional player to make money in this market, but you DO need to up your skill level. Right now...

    Intraday chart

Is there a way to see intraday sell volume and buy volume, and then monitor the price levels?? On a chart would be a start, but it would be even more interesting to see the actual intraday volume on a transactional level and to be able to distinguish (by myself if I have to) buys and...

Question about avoiding dividend tax for non-US investor.

I stand corrected - W8 is for capital gains taxes and releases that 30% government withholding for non-US citizens. If there is a trade agreement between the countries all you can do is offset dividend withholdings at the end of the year against your taxes. Closing out and re-opening your...

Question about avoiding dividend tax for non-US investor.

Fill out and file a W8-BEN with your broker. It informs the US government that you're not a US citizen, which takes away their authority to tax you.
