    Superstition, Luck and Vodoo

Hell yeah! Also which candles I had burning, what I ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and how I made love with my wife the night before. Also which of my alternate routes I took to my office, which parking spot I used, and what stall and which roll:) PS: Read the very first post if you want...

    Superstition, Luck and Vodoo

Amen!!! :( When I started this thread, it was on a lighthearted note, and it was totally related to trading...or was meant to be. I don't know how many times I tried in total futility to steer it back that way. It was about lucky shirts and unlucky elevators. Which lights to keep on and...

Disappointed that today wasn't a "classic" capitulation day?

"All it was"? Is this not a significant event?

Disappointed that today wasn't a "classic" capitulation day?

I could be wrong, but yeah, this would have made sense if we didn't get such a huge bounce (IMHO). Now I admit my somewhat addled brain ain't what it used to be, but if I am not mistaken, the Tuesday after the '87 crash was the biggest percentage up day ever. Is this correct? That is how I...

    Superstition, Luck and Vodoo

Here's a question that may be apropos to your analogy. Many religions are evangelical in their nature. Some perhaps more than others, yet still their mission is to spread their Word. Some do it in peace, some not. Some try and accept their failures some destroy the non-believers. Tolerance...

    Successful Trading

Yup....I may make 90% of my money in 10% of my trades, but I still need to make all the trades to accomplish this.

    Bush's Accounting

Yeah, but how did W. himself do with the Rangers? One of the alltime great "trades". Buy low, get the taxpayers to build a new stadium for you, sell high!

    Bush's Accounting

Ahhh... Carter is a "traitor"...please explain? Please? Or is this just fact because you want it to be, like Clinton taking a bribe from Marc Rich? PS: Are you old enough to remember that the hostages in Iran were released the day of Reagan's inauguration? And why? So Carter was a "traitor"...

Is this how you spell hypocrisy?

I am certainly NOT a "effing leftist" as you so eloquently call those you disagree with. However, check your facts, or more accurately, those of "jficquette".....saying that Clinton took a bribe from Marc Rich doesn't make it so. Of course I wouldn't in a trillion years expect the Limbaugh...

Is this how you spell hypocrisy?

Scary stuff! Don't know how seriously to take any of it, but I suppose it has to be at least as valid as the Clinton conspiracy stuff that Jerry Falwell spewed. Maybe all our presidents are complicit in murder, drugrunning and worse. Clinton must have been real bright to pull off all...

    prem, futures, program trading

This is not accurate, and I have no idea where the 5mm number came from. All the trading curbs mean is that they cannot buy or sell the stocks (or stock baskets) using computer generated orders. These same institutions continue to trade. Just not that particular strategy (ie: cash vs. futures)...

Experinced traders only please ,Profit goals vs. buying power

Agreed. This is not what I call "trading" This approach (and I have seen it) I refer to as "placing your bet". I know of one trader that does something along these lines. He trades the open. Places his orders as mkt. on open. He is done and gone before 10am. He has had hot streaks and cold...

    delta-neutral trading

I agree with this completely. Unless you are a market maker, even if you had the margin money to carry the naked positions, tying up that money (cost of carry) added to commisions, added to risk make these positions impractical. So even though this can be a high probability trade, the ROI is...

    The Tao of Publias

Be the coin!!!! When I was a skier, living in Aspen I came to NYC for a visit. I can't ever fall asleep without reading. My moron friend I was staying with had nothing to read but a book on tennis, which I never played (at that time). The book was "The Inner Game Of Tennis"....your coin story...

For me it was luck, pure and simple. Not that attaining means understanding. Never claimed to, never will!

Is this how you spell hypocrisy?

Great post....saved me a lot of typing. BUT I can't resist just a few comments ...LBJ, who I absolutely loathed at the time, initiated the "Great Society" programs at a completely different period of history. So in retrospect, here is a guy who after 35 years now looks different to me than...

SuperMontage, your system? Nasdaq says NO!

While I essentially agree with you, there is a degree of safety for the public in the NASDAQ/MM system (at least in theory). This is why SOES was instituted after the debacle of Oct. 19,1987. Of course it remains to be seen if this system would work, or for that matter if the entire OTC market...
