    Do Trendlines work?

It would seem that horizontal S/R is playing a greater role than the channel. Just an observation.

    Do Trendlines work?

Although the 4 cell p,v relationship is very elegant, I find utilising it in a practical trading strategy to be fraught with problems. Life would be a lot simpler if the market moved smoothly from cell to cell in the prescribed manner but in practice it frequently jumps about randomly. Take a...

    Do Trendlines work?

Are you using reducing pro rata volume on the slower fractal to indicate that the trend is ending? The crucial factor in your answer appears to be "pace". These are the points that I have identified: Context: I am looking for peaking volume at the LHS of the channel. I am looking for...

Thanks Jack. This is going to take a little time to digest.

    Do Trendlines work?

IMHO, the subjective nature of trendlines and channels makes them very difficult to use as a basis for a consistent profitable trading strategy. That is not to say that they are without value, but I find monitoring the price volume relationship far more useful.

Sorry but I am not in a position to make any comment on this. The question really needs to be addressed to Jack.

Just for the record, Jack used a 0.4 band on macd histogram , *not* macd, when trading rockets on ES.

It is possible to operate the system on a purely EOD basis - entering at the open on the following day. Obviously this would not be as profitable as intraday entries but Jack does maintain that this is a practical alternative for those without access to 30min charts.

I have DU for ESMC at 100k, exceeded by 11:30, but it does look weak at the moment.

    Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal

Yes I did. Jack's approach to "calculating" DU was simply an eyeball estimate. A sort of average of the minimum levels of volume over the last 6 months. I remember suggesting various percentages of the 65 day average volume but it always came back to an eyeball estimate, usually rounded to the...

    Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal

Are you anticipating the volume trigger at all? When we were trading online with Jack, he would calculate pro rata volume to anticipate DU volume being reached by 11:30 (2 hours into the day). For example, if volume had reached 25% of the DU value by 10am then that was considered a valid volume...

This is probably due to the low average volume. The 65 ma volume for HANS is only 249k. Personally I prefer a threshold of 500k for this very reason plus the fact that the bid/ask spread will usually be tighter.
