How are chart patterns like flags formed?

When I traded stock, the flag pattern was my favorite setup. So much so that when my future ex-wife offered to knit a sweater for me I had her embroider a flag pattern. Maybe it's not the most stylish sweater around, but it makes for a good conversation piece!! Your main concern should be if...

Managing money for Friends and Family / Small accounts - Question?

When I was a young trader a friend asked me to trade his funds. I thought it'd be easy. Just buy more of what I was buying. Well, after just a couple of days I returned his money. The reason was that I felt a sense of responsibility to my friend that I wouldn't have felt as deeply if I were a...

How has the pursuit of trading impacted your life?

How has the pursuit of trading impacted your life? Until the day comes when I fire myself, trading for a living has given me the job security that I wouldn't have had, especially if I worked in the White House!!

Ain't that the truth! Reason being that if it involves work and study, nobody's interested.

In addition to the 'Like' function..............

Thank you. Actually the proposed additions were what I so often see in written replies. And, as you said, some are similar to Like, but I just thought they expanded the Like meaning somewhat for the reader's reply. True, a complete written reply is, of course, best. My idea was to use those...

In addition to the 'Like' function..............

Often there are times when I would like to reply to a post but don't have time or don't have a complete reply in mind at the moment. So it's the Like icon or nothing. But if the post contains nothing new to me, I would hesitate to say Like, but might just want to say Agree, GP(good post)...

Exit strategy - Scalping VS. runners

Well reading your question, and the first one of your posts for me, you do sound to be inexperienced, and Xlea's reply was properly worded with that in mind. But more so, she took her time to give you her advice in an effort to be of help to you, and not so much as a simple 'thank you'. Sad. I'm...

Are you sure your time settings are correct for the sessions? They should be set to 1 minute before the open and after the close.

[Urgent] eSignal keep providing wrong data for HK Futures, any better service provider?

I used them for over 10 years. If you can clearly show that the data is wrong, they will fix it. Get them on the phone or live chat so they can compare the data then and there. Mail is less effective.

    Rules for Drawing Trendlines

Be it good, better or best depends on the ability of the user. And it is but one tool among many. And while your idea is that only modern is best, remember that you can't roast a turkey in a microwave!

And you can call that line a trend line, a treeline or a hemline. Whatever you like. But the fact is that the term exists as a recognized trading tool in TA.

    Rules for Drawing Trendlines

So you are saying that trend lines which border trends cannot be drawn because trends no longer exist? Well, there will always be trends in the markets as long as there are people who can't read them! And just as the cars you mentioned still run on wheels, the market still moves on supply and...

    Rules for Drawing Trendlines

AS Xela and comagnum mentioned, the term 'horizontal trend line/channel' does exist as found in well known books on TA. Attached are examples from two such books.

Yeah, I did have one. But while vitamin may, or may not, have been the cause,I'd rather have 1000 stones than 1 clogged artery!!

    Lessons Learned

Trends always have and will continue to exist. And trends can be read and followed. So it is the ability of the trader to read the trend, and not the art of trend following itself, that determines its success. Trend following itself, done realistically, cannot stop working. Due to their...
