    South Africa

Hi G-Boa, faure, Your informed views are helpful, though what about a change of government? It seems theres good and bad, the people are skilled and educated but theres so much social strife and despite this, the JSE keeps roaring up. Though what about a change of government, for...

    South Africa

Hi, Any views or comments about the prospect of South remaining a safe investment with a change of government would be appreciated. I ask because, it's not often in the news. Is there anyone from South Africa here, or with investments in that country?

    Cold War effect

Any views on the possibility of a cold war re emerging? Given some events in the energy markets and the extraordinary way the press can react, this seems a real possibility. As for an effect on the markets, I believe that there'll be an effect on national security, with terrorists given more...

    Any traders in Perth?

Many tend to have a bit of a thing against Sydney, and Melbourne tends to encourage that, Sydney can be quite aggressive though

    Any traders in Perth?

Perth is for outdoors people, theres little nightlife other than to go to bar and have a drink, in most places it's a very sterile enviroment, rather a police state, and the justice system there is questionable. Good for mining.

How many positions do you keep in your head?

I can recall about a dozen, though I'm wary of placing more than a few trades at a time, while keeping the execution good and not overlooking something.

If we go to War with Iran will that be bad for the US Stock Market?

I believe it will best to be long Bonds, Gold, Oil and probably short USD. With all due respects, I really believe that a war against Iran is doomed to fail regardless of the miltary might of the US, the whole centre stage will collapse, and demonstrates a failure of reasoning ability. War...

    Always Profitable Trading System

No, it can't be always profitable purely by virtue of the money management, that would be akin to the perpetual motion machine, but it might be profitable due to trading algorithms/concepts that exploit market features, like trends diversifcation etc

    volume on microcaps

I agree with the advice and comments being made, I came to the conclusion of a similiar formula, I'd been using 200 000, and using the avg of the last 60 days. I'm not really interested in trade sizes values under $5000, I might try and iceberg the orders in

    Esignal + Quote.com - Opinions

I subscribe to Quote.Com and find it good, it's simple to use and has all the stocks, futures and long intraday data. I find it vastly simplier than other data providers. Though, I find the website difficult, basically can NOT use it even to upgrade my subscription etc.

    flicker free data

OK, I agree. Whose an example of a "business class" vendor? I need the information fed direct to Excel.

    flicker free data

Linked to excel, I need a source of real time data for the stock indices, including the european ones, ftse, cac, dax etc. I've tried the IB dde link and have found it unreliable, also the flickering is a problem even when turning down the update speed. I tried an add-on that went with IB and...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

This is realistic, something big is going to blow up somewhere soon. Tinpot dictators going nuclear and who is going to stop them, Europe is not going to respond either.

    Response to Iran

I find it hard to believe that there'll be just no response to Iran, I'm not sure whether its true but I read there's a nuclear fleet on its way over there. The Middle East is in choas and the prospect of it going nuclear seems to big to overlook. Even making "no comment" is likely to send a...

    Deflation and liquidity

Thank you for that, I believe my question makes sense though, When interest rates fall, is it not good to hold debts and lending dries up? As according to the articule, “investors and buyers will hoard currency rather than invest it. This can produce the theoretical condition, much debated as...

    Deflation and liquidity

What is the relation between deflation and liquidity? When interest rates fall, is it not good to hold debts and lending dries up? Does the government act in some way, like providing liquidity, and does that affect the price of commoditys? Any opinions?

    Mideast

Oils priced the way it is because of Geopolitics, and a nuclear standoff seems significant. Maybe just doing nothing about this conflict is going to create a build up of tension. That might just cause prices to creep up slowly.
