ES, thanks for the advice. I hand test everything, and spend about 20 hours a week doing so. I have not analyzed that.

scaling requires so much more decision making. We have a tendency to pull trades quickly, or at least most traders do. I prefer to have very few rules that will take me out of a trade early. I leave money on the table many times per month. But when the markets move... I take down large cuts...

Let's say on Nasdaq futures: I enter with a 20 handle stop loss ( I use wide stops ) Once position is up half my max risk 20/2 = 10, I then move my stop to Break even + 1. I then let it ride until my target is hit and take the whole position off. I don't scale out.

All new traders want to trade intraday...It's super hard. If you can't trade on longer term charts, there is no way you can trade intraday. My two cents. It's far harder in the short term.

I trade NQ's.... I like the volatility of it. ES is a bit slower and noisy in my opinion. 98% of the traders on ET will not have a "liquidity problem" with NQ.

I would say through the course of a month, perhaps 0.5% of my account goes to commissions. Maybe a little less. I trade futures.
