    U.S. October New-Home Sales Fall 3.2% to a 1.004 Million Pace

Real estate is crashing around everyone's ears and has been for the last year. Unlike the stock market, moving houses take a bit longer than clicking a button. Every single month you have continuous carrying costs in the form of mortgages, maintenance, utilities, taxes, insurance. Investors...

LOL! You are very very young, with no experience in real estate aren't you:)?

I Sold 40% of My Portfolio Today

I guess it has a lot to do with what stocks you track. My entire screen is green, and I still have some money to spend, so it's irritating. I am watching, with current positions in: CSCO, DVN, DOW, EBAY, GE, AMD (this one's down .13:P), DIS, MSFT, HW, EMR, ADBE, HD, PWI, LNVGY, PGH, PD...

I Sold 40% of My Portfolio Today

Heh, I did that in 2001. That was a hard lesson to learn, and I'm still learning it, since I rode it down with MCI, Global Crossing, Lucent, CSCO (at $70) among others. The flip side of that lesson was, you'll never make it back up if you aren't exposed. I've almost made it all back, which...

I Sold 40% of My Portfolio Today

I decided after years of mutual funds that they don't do a better job stock picking than I do, and they all charge too much. So other than International funds (where I'd have to deal with taxes and maybe more commissions), I pick my own stocks. I absolutely do better than most fund managers...

I Sold 40% of My Portfolio Today

I have a question. I asked this on another thread, but this one's shorter. What are you going to do with the cash from your selloff? I get sad when I think about only 4.5% interest, so I can't do it. Then I think, home improvement projects (HEY... HD... LOW... hehe). But the money would then...

I Sold 40% of My Portfolio Today

You may be right... but I think you're wrong. I think most people wait til the end of the year thru the April 15th deadline to do their $4K - $8K IRA $$, and it's all going to funds and stocks. That's a lot of liquidity that's still not hit this market yet. Add that to the shorts that...

s&p just made intermediate term top on 11/22

If you don't mind my asking, I keep seeing these 'top' calls for the S&P here, and I'm just wondering what you base these calls on? My gut feeling is that the market is going up for one reason only... there's no where else to put the money right now. Not many people are going to buy real...

    Futures Down Again Part Iii.

Boy am I glad I bought some dips yesterday. While I agree that 2007 might be unpredictable, I don't think the bull's done. 7% correction? I'll eat a sock if we get a 7% correction this week.

    still don't like Cramer...

I never saved a copy of the Street (who would) from that time, nor could I access it now if it were even available. I can't recall the date in 2000, but he said he was in a 70% cash position. It was so ludicrous at the time that it was notable. The reason it stuck in my mind is because...

    still don't like Cramer...

I've been mad at him since 2000... when he was the ONLY one to correctly call the top and tell people to start taking money out of the market. Every day, he'd say that he was taking more money off the table, and the market was slowly dropping. Most people simply bought into the dips, as they did...

    Time to Buy AMD?

Yes, we will see. I love AMD, it's way overdue now. As for the dual core kicking butt.... there's plenty of people who like the 64 X2 Turion (for laptops) and the X2 for gaming... which is FASTER for gamers (who tend to buy the best of the best) than the dual core by some measures, for hundreds...

    How about NMX?

I would like to know what I said to get my post about NMX deleted, please. I can't fathom how a warning about market orders in an IPO and the info that some brokers were accepting limit orders for pre-market orders for NMX (I am a retail trader with several different brokerage accounts...

    Anyone trading EFUT or ZVUE

Um.... Eagle... Yesterday, EFUT did a $18 swing... yes... $18... from a $33 base. Today, EFUT did a $7 swing... on a $33 base. WMT doesn't move by more than $2 max, and that was 1 day over the course of years:P. If you're going to swing trade, you have to find a BIG swing:D .

    Anyone trading EFUT or ZVUE

LMAO! I AM a lady. Thus, I have no use for Amsterdam or Thailand. As for trading, I'm up quite a bit, and I've been trading for over 20 years. Grant you, I've had spectacular losses, all in 2001, but I've made them all up and then some:P. Thank you for the advice, however, it is very...

    Great SHORTS

It may work out for you if you short with a long timeline... but that could be said about all stocks. It's financials aren't extremely strong... but if you look at the penny valuations for EFUT for one example, and know it's hit a high of $48 from pure speculation, valuations in this market...

anyone know what nymex symbol will be?

I just placed a limit order for NMX. I tried on 3 different brokerages, only Etrade accepted it (Etrade used to give selected reserve shares of new IPO's to their Power Traders AT the IPO price, so apparently they handle IPO orders differently). I doubt I'll get filled... but it will be fun...

    Great SHORTS

Um... don't follow the other ones... but if you do your math, on EAT, if post split is $30... that would make the current value of the stock $60. Today, it closed at $47.87. You aren't really going to short this at $47 are you?

anyone know what nymex symbol will be?

NMX is supposed to be priced tonite... but with the anticipation, I can't even imagine what it will actually open at. You can trade it now on some brokerages (that is, it's open for trade, with no price). For those ready to hop in 'at any price'... I'd be a bit wary of doing that. In 1999...

    new highs

I think we're due for a down day... I'm hoping it's tomorrow. Most people have closed their Oct option positions by now, and the bears probably accounted for the last 2 days up.
