    Tough times ahead for daytraders

    Just another vote that this is an awesome equity trading environment. In the past couple weeks there have been quite a few 500k+ days for the bigger guys in my office and 50-100k days for the younger guys.

    UAUA (and LCC)

    This is what I'm confused about, too. I've gotten screwed by broken trades and been saved by broken trades. I have no problem with trades being reviewed. I'm just a floored that a system that is supposed to catch "clearly erroneous" transactions can view today's action as anything but...

    UAUA (and LCC)

    CBO printed 100 at 0.01 then 100 at 999.99. Seem like whenever there are trades at a penny or 1k+, it's from the CBO. I've been in quite a few trades that have been broken. This decision is the worst, most inconsistent ruling I have seen from NASDAQ.

    Level 2

    All the different ECNs compete with each other for executions. There is so much information about the different kinds of orders, executions, ECNs, etc, it could easily fill a book. (However, if you see a book that claims to explain it, the book is bullshit.) If there are 3 different ECNs...

    How the MM of TRA just triggered every stop loss

    I checked the T&S. Hard to tell if there was an offer stepping down the whole way (doubtful), but there were some pretty big takes right at the bottom below $47.

    How the MM of TRA just triggered every stop loss

    A market order in TRA at that time of the day could easily (and did) move the stock 4 points. I agree that these moves can create good short term entries, and I trade them every day. MTL is getting smoked due to comments from Russia.

    How the MM of TRA just triggered every stop loss

    I fail to see anything interesting. That was a market order. Big deal.

    Thanks. I'll check that out. Any other opinions?

    Effect of futures prices vs. cash markets

    With all of the recent talk of the futures markets manipulating the price of XYZ commodity, I'd like to better understand the effect that futures markets, specifically the near month contract has on the cash market. For example - the oil market. Certain pundits say that there is a...

    Making the Market in a simulator vs. real life; Market Making Stocks?

    The only thing the simulator is good for is getting used to the software. Fills will be completely unrealistic. When I make a market it is in high priced, illiquid, low volume stocks.

    SEC= Communist China?

    To clarify, I agree that naked shorting is wrong and needs to be addressed. I just meant that as an individual trader nothing that was said today will have an effect on my trading.

    SEC= Communist China?

    As someone who follows the rules, and borrows stock the same day I short it, I fail to see any problems with this.

    What a specialist knows about YOU

    Sure they can. And you can learn all about LRPs, MOCs, etc if you really wanted. But most of the time when you send an order to the post it is handled without human interference.

    What a specialist knows about YOU

    The specialist is a computer. Don't worry about it.

    A math kinda ?

    Impossible to answer without knowing the order book. Some stocks that do less than a thousand shares/day have 20k on both the bid and the offer with a 5 cent spread all day long. Some stocks that do multiple millions/day might require you to pay 50-60 cents to fill 1000 at the market.
